I must see! I was going to go for the cast preview in 2009 but I had to work... got to see the treehouses though AND stay in them there at Saratoga, made up for it.cy1229 wrote:Ok! Back to it - I wonder if they're going to add any other quick service options or expand what is currently at the Grand. The quick service food there (can't remember the name) is impossibly small and adding more guests won't help matters.

Re: DVC coming to the Grand Floridian
I would assume that if you are going to have DVC at the resort, you have to have a decent quick service option. I presume that most DVC owners have kids or grandkids...which is why they invested in something as big and long as a DVC membership. Having kids in tote means you need access to good quick service. I don't know if the GF is in a different league altogether though because it probably has less kids than any other Disney Resort.

Don't the people that have DVC usually have a kitchen in which to throw together a quick brekkie or sandwich though? I know one of my piano families always stays at the GF, and have since their children were small. I should ask them if they see many other families there...theBIGyowski wrote:I would assume that if you are going to have DVC at the resort, you have to have a decent quick service option. Gasparilla's. It might be small but it has an advantage no other resort does- it's open 24 hrs. a day.disneylizzy wrote:Back to it - I wonder if they're going to add any other quick service options or expand what is currently at the Grand. Re: DVC coming to the Grand Floridian
Do you know why they are open 24 hours a day? That would be a nice advantage to have ~ especially if the drink counter was open. I'm always bummed that I can't get a beverage when I come back after midnight ~ which is most nights if the parks are open!Soarin08 wrote:Gasparilla's. Re: DVC coming to the Grand Floridian
-shrug- I have no idea. It would be nice if there were at least places in the resorts to fill up the mugs after-hours, but the GF is the only one thus far where you can. Granted, the overnight menu is pretty limited (pizza and the like) but at least there are options.Amy wrote:Do you know why they are open 24 hours a day? The studios have a sink, fridge, and microwave. The 1BR villas and up all have kitchens though.Amy wrote:Don't the people that have DVC usually have a kitchen in which to throw together a quick brekkie or sandwich though? The thing is, though, that Disney is all about making money, so having quality quick service options in all of the DVC resorts means more money for them all day...every day.

Re: DVC coming to the Grand Floridian
True. I have friends that try to vacation (not at Disney) cheaply and pack a couple coolers and several grocery bags worth of stuff, and then still end up going out most days for lunch or dinner and end up wasting money on the food they had brought spoiling. I understand when people are trying to save money at Disney, but eating there is part of the experience. And I think you are right, most people would be more likely to grab something at a quick service than go to the hassle of cooking a meal in the room.theBIGyowski wrote:The studios have a sink, fridge, and microwave.
