New Ride Vehicle for Test Track

Re: New Ride Vehicle for Test Track
I was thinking the same thing, Wizzard. Maybe these aren't even for Epcot - maybe they are just testing the vehicles for Cars Land. Do we know for sure that Epcot is planning an upgrade to the Test Track vehicles?
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

That would be cute to see a little Lightning McQueen car running at Test TrackWizzard419 wrote:I wonder if the cars they are going to use for the DCA version have the same size/needs as the Epcot ones? If so then they may also use it to test our new cars on it as well.

Re: New Ride Vehicle for Test Track
I would imagine they would either do it on the off hours or just give it a different paint job if they are testing out a configuration.
Though it would be hillarious to see MFer's head explode at WDW being used as a testing ground for another new ride.

I haven't heard anything concrete. It is rumored that the ride will go down for a lengthy refurb next year, but that's all I have heard.horizons1 wrote:I was thinking the same thing, Wizzard. It is due for a refurb for sure! Plus I would think they would want to update some of the scenes to keep it fresh....lonepalm wrote:I haven't heard anything concrete. Re: New Ride Vehicle for Test Track
I would like to see a complete re-work of the ride, but I think that is wishful thinking. The ride is just getting dull to me. I don't mind the general idea of the ride, but I don't think it is effective anymore.

It will probably be a change of scenery and update of the vehicles that you see in the queue and on the attraction. From what I understand the new car is the test vehicle of the new cars to replace the 12 year old vehicles currently running.lonepalm wrote:I haven't heard anything concrete. I was always a little baffled by the live action intro videos for attractions since they will be used for over 10 years even if the people in the video age or die.

I am pretty sure teh cars being used for CarsLand in DCA look more like teh cars from the movie, so I am betting these are replacements for Test Track.

I am betting they are for Test Track. The cars for DCA, CarsLand, are more cartoonish, like the movie.

Re: New Ride Vehicle for Test Track
You're talking about the shell, not the car. It could be that both Carsland and Test Track could use the same car, but have different "shells" (exteriors) put onto them. Carlsand could have a cartoonish shell instead. It's a possibility...

Re: New Ride Vehicle for Test Track
If they were cars for Cars Land, then why wouldn't they test them at Cars Land? There was a Disneyland update (thanks Ms Swann) a long time ago that showed cars being tested in Cars Land. They already have the track in place, they would just test there. I believe what the CM told Len and that these are definitely for a Test Track refurb and hopefully soon. I haven't ridden TT in forever as I had "been there, done that" and it wasn't exciting anymore. I can't wait for an update so I can justify riding it again.

Re: New Ride Vehicle for Test Track
I agree. I would love to see it updated to provide varying ride experiences (like ToT and SW2). My idea is that the track could have several split points where you experience different tests depending on which way your car happens to go - one car goes right, the next goes left, etc. There would still be a limited number of tests, but you would get a different mix each ride. They would have to work out timing issues so that cars wouldn't get held up at transition points, waiting to move to the next test, plus I'm sure they'd want everyone to experience the crash/high speed ending section, but I'm sure they could overcome all of that and make it even better than I can imagine.lonepalm wrote:I would like to see a complete re-work of the ride, but I think that is wishful thinking. Unfortunately that would be a huge, expensive overhaul that would probably require more space than they have in the attraction currently, so it's pretty unlikely to happen. I think Len's idea of them updating the videos and scenery is right. Maybe they'll at least update one or two of the tests and get the queue special effects working again.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!
