I can confirm this. We've never had a view room, but my husband and I are late night swimmers in the pool and have seen the lights go out many times.dichuy wrote:This time last year I was at the Contemporary with my mom. We had a Magic Kingdom view. I woke up every couple of hours just to look at my beloved place. The park closed at 8pm that time of year. I remember noticing at 2am that the lights on the castle were off. I was sadly disappointed. I would have thought they kept them on all night long.joeyflds wrote:Ive always wondered this, but do they keep the castle lit up all night long? I stayed at Poly once when i was a kid, but i dont remember that. If so, thats got to be awesome to see from your room.

I have many favorite memories and some I even have pictures of. Here is the first from when I was in High School. I believe this was also the trip where I got to sing in the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT:

The Three Amigos were popular at the time, which explains the pose.

While enjoying the Hoop-de-do dinner show in Ft. Wilderness my Dad was completely focused on a leg of fried chicken he was about to sink his teeth into when the very pretty blond actress came up behind him, and proceeded to pull his chair away from the table, sat in his lap, and sang to him in full spotlight. He absolutely loved it!!! We all had tears streaming down our faces we were laughing so hard, and I have to admit mine were somewhat emotional tears too, since he had survived a quadruple bi-pass just months before. Seeing him having such a great time has to be my favorite memory. She gave him a big smooch on the cheek before letting him get back to his dinner
Re: Your Favorite Memory
My family has been members of DVC since the mid 90s and we have been going to Disney over Thanksgiving for 16 years. As you can imagine, spending almost every Thanksgiving on property has given me a lot of my fondest memories; but my favorite happened this past Thanksgiving (2010).
My wife and I didn't get to go in 2009 because we had our first child in December and we were very excited to take our son on his first Disney trip. The day after Thanksgiving we went to Animal Kingdom and were in line to see Mickey (totally recommend character visits in Animal Kingdom by the way, the line was the shortest I've ever seen). We were probably 50 feet from the front of the line and then he spotted Mickey. Now, my son loves
almost as much as he loves his mommy - and way more than he loves his daddy so he lost his mind in his excitement.
While we were trying to him, we bumped into the people directly in front of us in line. They where very understanding and assured me that it was alright. That's when I noticed they were having a family reunion and had their 92 year old grandmother with them. Like any first timer she had her 'first visit' pin. When they got to the front of the line, the grandmother leaned forward in her wheelchair and said to Mickey, 'I've been waiting my entire life to meet you!'.
To see two people, one 92 and one 11 months, be so excited to meet Mickey for the first time will always stick with me.
That is my favorite memory and THAT is why I love Disney.

Wow, that's quite something else.joeyflds wrote:Not sure if this has been done before on this board, but I thought id give it a shot.
I've got 2:
1. My wife and i were picked to be a part of the opening of DHS one morning, we were able to ride in a car that Walt actually used to give tours of Disneyland in. After the show we were driven down to RNR and were allowed to ride all by ourselves.
Let's see,
- First time ever staying at the park resorts and hearing Soul Bossa Nova on their bus to the parks.
I still remember wearing my child's size Stitch hat that my sister picked out for me. - Getting #4th place record on the Indiana Jones pinball machine at the Space Mountain arcade. It's no 1-3rd, but at least I made it that high! Though I'm sure it's long gone, now.

- Being in line for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and a CM came up and pulled our group aside to congratulate us for winning a Year of a Million Dreams lanyard & pin set. Pretty cool!
.. now arriving at Space Mountain, Tomorrowland's gateway to the galaxy..

Wouldn't that be something if you went back and saw you still held the 4th place record?!Space Traveler wrote:[*]...Getting #4th place record on the Indiana Jones pinball machine at the Space Mountain arcade. It's no 1-3rd, but at least I made it that high! Though I'm sure it's long gone, now....
Re: Your Favorite Memory
Just thought of one this morning:
My almost-3 yo daughter telling Peter Pan that her favorite character was Tinkerbell, then being carried by Pan through the crowd to Mickey's Philharmagic where we got to watch the show with him and Wendy. She really was Tinkerbell that day and we were all sprinkled with Pixie Dust.
No wonder I love Disney...

Re: Your Favorite Memory
It was at the end of a Family Magic Tour, one of the best tours ever! At the end of the tour, you got to meet Pan and Wendy, then they took you to a ride or attraction. In our case, it was Philharmagic. Adi sat on Pan's lap through the whole show. She was in heaven.Amy wrote:That is awesome! Re: Your Favorite Memory
I have 2 favorite mems:
1) Asking my girlfriend at the time to marry me in front of the tree of life, I pointed out an animal on the tree that was one of her favorites and while she snapped a picture I was down on one knee in position to pop the question mean while my sister got into position and recorded that whole thing. Also a Disney photographer captured the moment for us! Truely awesome.
2) Was seeing the look on my sons face when he was finally tall enough to ride the "adult" rides. When his head touched the bar that said 44"'s the smile the jumping the high 5's he gave everyone was amazing.
Could go on but I will stop with these!
