Re: When will the build a 5th park?
I would love a 5th park but I agree that right now they have a big load to refurbish and update the existing parks/attractions. I think if with the up turning economy (yes I did say that lol) if attendance increases more I would see them in the next 5 years at least planning, but def not breaking ground yet imo

DHS needs a lot of work in my opinion. They have a great opportunity to expand it with the Toy Story Mania ride, Pixar is taking over the park so they should expand that section and fill up all the empty buildings!! I've heard a lot of people complain that there is nothing to do at DHS, don't get me wrong I love the park but I can see where non Disney enthusiasts are disappointed in the park. I wish Fantasmic played more often!! I know its highly expensive though but still! It's my favorite show. Epcot needs some work too but I think that DHS needs a face lift the most. I would love to see a new park though in the future!

Re: When will the build a 5th park?
I was wondering for a long time when a new park would be built. WDW seems to constantly add new DVC's and more hotel rooms but no place for the extra visitors to go. Not that every room is constantly being booked or anything.
I have no clue what DisneySea is.
Personally, I would love a second Magic Kingdom park. A park built similar to the MK but with more characters, more dark rides, and more themed lands. It seems to be what Disney does best. Forestland? Renaissanceland? Medievalland? Knight Mickey would be awesome. Outer Spaceland which could improve on ideas from Epcot and Tomorrowland. The ideas could be endless.

It's TDL's second gate/park built a few years back. Like the Magic Kingdom, it has various lands but all tied together by a centralized nautical theme to the whole park: the American Waterfront, Porto Paradiso, Port Discovery, Volcania, Mermaid Lagoon, etc. Each land has rides connected with that theme, such as 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and Journey To The Center of the Earth located in Volcania (Nemo's base from 20K UTS by Jules Verne). Check it out on the net.BuDz211 wrote:I have no clue what DisneySea is.![]()

Yes, it is definitely worth checking out!! Plus I'll have my photo trip report up from Tokyo here one of these days...it really is an awesome park!mindflipper wrote:It's TDL's second gate/park built a few years back. Re: When will the build a 5th park?
Great points are being brought up. As for the tourism, Disney has to be seeing some sort of improvement with attendance in the coming years. The buildings for Art of Animation were sitting idle since the downturn in tourism following 9/11. They didn't just wake up one morning and say let's complete those. There has to be numbers, projections, predictions, or something to make Disney want to increase their on property lodging numbers. I think we are just waiting on the economy to recover now for the big boom in travel.

interesting ideas guys, i think it will be a while before the new park but maybe soon
Re: When will the build a 5th park?
I would worry about the quality of a DisneySea park in Florida. My fear is it would not be as well themed and immersive as the Japanese one. Here's something they should spend money on instead of a fifth theme park: Extend the monorail from Epcot to DHS and DAK. It will never happen of course.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

And not keep increasing the fleet of smelley diesel buses?!? I would love to see the monrail extended too but the price of concrete and steel has gone up globally over the last decade that such expansion is far more expensive than increasing the size of the bus fleet.horizons1 wrote:I would worry about the quality of a DisneySea park in Florida. Re: When will the build a 5th park?
Logistically speaking...it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to have a monorail go to each of the parks. Where would they all converge? The TTC? That means taking the monorail from Epcot to the TTC...then switching trains...then TTC to DHS...that is a very long trip and you could probably walk between the two parks faster. It could also get difficult making a TTC that could handle that many tracks.
One other thought would be creating another "South" TTC that serviced the other parks. Again...that just means adding another layover area if you are going from park-to-park. The buses are much more efficient. I'd love to see the monorail go everywhere...but it would just be way too difficult to justify.

Re: When will the build a 5th park?
I am predicting it will be 7-10 years before Disney World gets a 5th park, that is, as long as the economy eventually makes its predicted rebound. I have a feeling the pleasure island makeover will not be as deep as they are announcing it to be.

I could see them do it, but dumping in a few roller coasters, flume/boat/raft rides, and some other thrill rides to compete with IoA.elizabethswann wrote:That would be real nice to see. All the photos from DisneySea have made me jealous that it's only in Japan.mindflipper wrote:Or they could always go with the DisneySea format or something similar that could be made to be like their own IoA.

disneysea is the 2nd park to open in tokyo, its kinda like world showcase but with all water-themed places like the coast of arabia, american waterfront, etc.
