Just have to go with the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Theres something special about waking up at looking at the giraffes outside your window. Its especially good when you arrive and Disney give you a free room upgrade!
It also has one on the best restaurants in WDW. I just cant get enough of BOMA!

AKL, no contest. Wilderness Lodge is great, but their dining hinders the overall experience, I think. AKL is the whole package. I go there from time to time just to hang out for the afternoon and sit in the lobby, which is probably the greatest lobby every designed. And the smell from my favorite restaurant, The Boma, is just incredible icing on the cake. :D

GF, then WL, then POLY......ALL outstanding resorts, which each have a much different appeal, dependent on whether you are there with kids, or not.

I am too cheap to stay at a deluxe resort but if I had to choose one, I would choose Wilderness Lodge. I just love that theme.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Although they are all so wonderful I think i'll have to go with the Contemporary. It's gettign nicer and nicer after its recent refurb and that 15 walk to the Magic Kingdom doesn't hurt either.

The GF is absolutely ridiculous. I love it. Though the BoardWalk is a very, very close second.

"The whole package?" Except location, maybe... AKL is a thematically wonderful place, the lobby is stunning and Boma is to die for... but staying at a Deluxe and having to bus everywhere, or rent a car? No thank you!

Big, big advantage goes to the 3 monorail resorts (with WL close by... with a short boat trip thrown in) and the Epcot-area deluxes... AKL is too out-of-the-way for my taste.

it all depends on which parks you really go to a lot. I know people who stay at the big three monorail resorts (BTMR) and they travel to EPCOT more than the other parks. So travel problems are kind of subjective. I agree with you though because I like to go to MK and EPCOT the most and DTD and MGM next. So I stay by EPCOT so I can take the Monorail system from to MK.

We love the Grand Floridian! It was our first Disney resort and we'll be returning there in August.

The boardwalk is awesome.. Great food at Spoodles, Cape May cafe, and quickies and desert at Beeches and Creame.. Also can't forget the Yachtsmans steakhouse! Ohh and the Bakery on the boardwalk is great too.

Always fun stuff to see and do on the boardwalk at night.. The atmosphere and rooms are awesome!

The best part? a 5 minute walk to Epcot and a 10 minute walk to MGM.. You can easily beat the boats to the parks..

Since Epcot is our favorite park it works out great! ohh and a 15 minute walk to the best resturant in the park (Le Cellier! in Canada).

I can't say enough.. I think it is the best DVC property with WL as a close second.

We just stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. Perfect for families. Unfotunately it was a bit cold last week when we were there so we didn't get full use of the pool area, but I looked like a great pool. I'm sure we will be back there in the future.

You know, I keep trying to answer this, and each one has their strengths. We've stayed at them all, many concierge, and it's so tough to answer this. It really depends on what your needs are, where you plan on going, and what you plan on doing.
