Re: Does Test Track Need Some Refurbishment?
Am I the only one who feels that Test Track is hugely overrated? It may be the fastest ride in all of Disney, but I’ve ridden in many convertibles before, and that’s all the climax of the ride is with some banking added in. I suppose if the name of the game was to add some thrill over World of Motion, then I guess the ride is a success, but quick stops, bumpy roads, quick turns, and driving on the freeway just reminds me of the last time I drove to Vegas.
So yes, I feel the attraction needs some refurbishment.
Now, let’s all hope that Soarin’ doesn’t go the way of Star Tours and feel really out of dates in a few more years …

I like Test Track but I haven't been on it in a couple of years because I don't feel like messing with the line. That is weird that they still have Saturns on display. Didn't they quit making Saturns, or will soon quit making them? I'm just guessing that with all the financial issues, the ride has not received much needed attention.
Sure its not a super thrill ride, but I think its fun. I like the heat lamps and the cold room haha! Any youngsters on our trip always get a kick out of the wall that pulls away as the car speeds up. I think that kids probably get more thrill out of the ride than adults.
Let's hope they update the ride!

Do you have a mustang? This is mine. I would agree that I can make a ride as exciting as the high speed loop on test track on a highway on-ramp. But it doesn't have the voice of Bill McKim and the burnout noise when the car accelerates unless you want to pay for $500 of new tires... at least not yet.boilerbabe wrote:Well said SoarinSoarin and Len. I noticed on our last trip (Dec. '09) that it was in need of some updating, well actually alot of updating! You would think if they can't afford to fix the entire attraction at this moment, can they at least update the pre-loading video?! It's a bit sad to see vehicles they do not even make anymore. As far as the actual ride, I still enjoy it. I've always felt though with TT, if I have to wait more than 20 mins. for it, I will pass. I don't feel it's worth a terribly long wait. Hopefully Disney will give this attraction a face lift soon!
We enjoyed the post show on our last visit, they had the new Camaro in the show room. I'm a Ford Mustang girl, but I had to check out the new muscle car.I sat in it and felt as if I had cheated on my Stang!

There used to be a heavy weight "thing" (I don't know what to call it) that they'd drop from two storeys up. I'm actually glad it broke ages ago. It was so loud it hurt my ears.
I wonder if the queue gets less love because the emphasis is on the fastpass now, and fastpass riders don't see much of the queue? I've always thought the little movie was bad, so I wouldn't mind seeing an update.
The history of Test Track being built is an interesting one. I don't think it has ever run as envisioned.

When it was built the technology wasn't there quite yet, now it is and there going to use it to build the cars ride in Disneyland. I bet after cars is built they will do something to test track.

I like Test Track but I agree... it is in need of an update. It is staggering how many of the items in the queue no longer work. And you're right; the preview video needs to be brought into the 21s century. The ride still breaks down a lot and it is quite annoying to wait in line for an hour then be turned around and sent out because the ride is down for an indeterminate amount of time. The fast passes run out quickly, so getting a pass isn't easy for those who come to the park later in the morning or early afternoon. As far as I am concerned, it would be worth closing for several weeks to get the ride back up to speed, no pun intended.

I hear that. I would remember the sign that the weight was about to come down and cover my ears! THAT is not missed in the least. I would like to see some of the scenes put back in working order. Not only is it more entertaining, it means more opportunities to take pictures. It would be nice if the video was updated in the preview area, and it would be especially nice if the TVs were replaced with HDTV flat-screens. Going inside that area is like going back in time. Perhaps we got in line for Dinosaur insteadArete wrote:There used to be a heavy weight "thing" (I don't know what to call it) that they'd drop from two storeys up. Indeed. They car in the very beginning of the queue, which used to be a Corvette if I remember correctly, is now a Pontiac Solstice, a car that is not produced any more due to GM's drop of Pontiac along with Saturn. I think they should replace it with a Corvette ZR1. A car that has set records on many levels, and is considered a competitor of top Italian exotics that cost over 3 times as much as the ZR1. It's GM's best performing car as of right now, and should be on display at TT.

It would be nice to see a ZR1. Is it still the Solstice? I really thought that would have at least been changed by now to reflect a car that is actually produced.SoarinSoarin wrote:Indeed. Yeah, a new pre-show video would be nice. Not sure what else they could do to upgrade.
However if space and money were not an issue.....
Perhaps you could choose your testing experience w/ rides through different cities.....
NYC w/ a cabbie yelling and swearing at everyone.
Boston w/ a rude driver laying on the horn and flipping you off while he drives the wrong way on a one way street
LA, you could get in the car, sit in traffic for and hour moving 500 feet

I think the LA scene is already covered with the ride queue. You can just stand still and not move there for a long time. The only problem I see with NYC and Boston scenes is that the language may not be good for a Disney attraction.kcarts wrote:Yeah, a new pre-show video would be nice. Re: Does Test Track Need Some Refurbishment?
If they could tweak the high speed loop for 100+ mph I would never say a bad thing about the pre-show or the screens not working again.
