Actually in 1983, it was still Larry Dobkin. Walter Cronkite's narration didn't come along until 1986. Quite honestly, I have never heard the true original (Larry Dobkin). I'd be interested in hearing the audio for comparison purposes...if it exists. I have only been on the Walter Cronkite & Jeremy Irons versions of the ride and I have only heard the audio for the current version.

That'd be cool to hear the original larry dobkin version.

I think the current one is targeted more toward a school-aged audience.

When I think of SE I hear the Jeremy Irons version in my mind since that's the one I've heard most often.

I voted for Walter Cronkite...I grew up watching him on the evening news he is part of American history in my humble opinion and it was a shame when the updated it and dropped him

Judy's voice is a little sharp sounding for this particular attraction. I don't know if "sharp" means anything to anyone else haha

I would definitely say that Jeremy Irons reigns supreme here.

Cronkite sounds to me like he was reading a newscast, and Dench doesn't seem to be taking the ride too seriously. Irons played it just right, not quite melodramatic but with a certain reverence that gave SE an air of wonder (though the script undoubtedly played a large part of this as well).

It's a shame that they think this new "dumbed-down" script and Dench's less involving narration will appeal more to children; I rode the Jeremy Irons Spaceship Earth for the first time while in second grade, and right up until its refurbishment it was my favorite ride in the whole resort. Now, it's almost condescending.

Irons.
Right there with the Illuminations narration.

I loved Jeremy Irons on SE. The music was fabulous, and his voice added a mystical and alluring touch to an excellent script. SE was the ride that we opened and closed every vacation with...until it was changed to Judi Dench. No offense to her, but I don't care for the new SE. It was actually quite disappointing. I felt that more could have been done with the descent (I'm SO sick of looking at screens all the time), and that fabulous score is gone :(

I don't blame Judi Dench. I blame Disney for dumbing down SSE. I think the reason we all love Jeremy Irons is because of how intelligent SSE was then! Disney took SSE and made it for you average 2nd grader!

Anybody like the idea of two narrators? It would be cool to have the original parts Irons and the new parts Dench.

Wow, I am really starting to dread revisiting one of my favorite attractions the next time we get to WDW. I'm thinking perhaps I will have to upload the original narration onto my iphone and skip the current narration...ugh!

It's still awesome...and will always be one of my favorite Future World attractions. I think we are all hating on it because it's not as good as the one before it. SSE will always be a must-see for me though...no matter what.

I guess I'm an old timer... surprised to see how many people favored Jeremy Irons over Uncle Walt...
Thanks,

I love Jeremy irons. I have great respect for Walter Cronkite's, but Jeremy irons did such a great job. I miss it. Judy Dench is ok. To be honest, I think she does well, but it's a terrible script

I have only listened to the audio on here but I love Jeremy Irons' voice and thought his narrative was the best one.
