First they are spending the money to redo Fantasyland. They are also starting to attack those vacant and half built things like the Legendary years. I just hope that EPCOT is next on the list for WDI. There is too much vacant space to let it just sit.
Agreed! They shouldn't have so many empty spaces in a place that is supposed to be a vision for the future :(

Wow, great news for the most part (other than an additional 5,000 people going to the parks on a daily basis). So, will Pop Century be called "Pop Half Century" since only half of the idea will come to fruition without the other half of the decades?

Good question.

Knowing Disney they will just change it to Pop Culture and change the signs in the middle of the night.

I don't think there will really be any need for a change of name. Most people don't even realize or know that they were supposed to build the first half of the decade across the lake. I think that they will have to rename the lake and a few roads around the resort to make them seem more like they were fit for both.

I think we need to add more things at the park for people to do, because we're adding rooms more quickly and just making the queue lines longer.

I guess the pictures I took a few years ago of the unfinished main building with the two story tall "00", "10", "20", "30" and "40" numbers in the front are going to join my River Country and Horizons photos.

I wouldn't say they will join your River Country pictures. River Country is still mostly there behind all the over grown shrubbery. You can get nice and close by renting a boat from Wilderness Lodge.

It should be really intersting to see the architecture of the buildings. The rest of the buildings will most likely have to be built to match the ones that had been started. I am guessing it will be the mirror image of Pop century.

Mindflipper: Keep in mind that Fantasyland is expanding, so the queue lines should be alleviated by having more to do over there. (walking space, new attraction, new restaurant)

I love this plan for a new resort. The unfinished development was an eye sore, and now you won't have the "bridge to nowhere" aka Generation Gap Bridge that stops right where that portion of Pop Century would have been.

ABOUT TIME they did something with that nuclear-holocaust looking building. :-o Seriously, just seeing it from the DHS CP bus when we had to swing by Pop was disturbing. Cannot WAIT for the finished product!

Maybe so but I gotta tell ya ...I think there's more than a vague resemblance to the condition of River Country:

When you look it from those angles there is a slight resemblance. The only difference is that River Country was used at one time and the legendary years were never used for anything... excpet the parking lot which was used for storage and bus driver training.

I still think they're adding more rooms than they have added things to do to keep people busy/entertained. When the park has it peaks, they're overcrowding more than ever before...

Yup, I have to agree with you mindflipper. It is almost getting to be where you will have to be an on-site guest to enter the parks...

I'm excited to hear about this. The Family Suites are very reasonably priced (half the price of the cheapest room at a Deluxe), so this new place is definitely on my radar for a future vacation, just as soon as they get it built.
