We don't have the facts about this case, and all we can do is just speculate. I agree with Len90, more details would be better to understand clearly what happened - let's hope the Sentinel follows up with some more details. Let's all hope for the speedy recovery of the unfortunate castmember.

It's the Sentinel! Don't look for to many facts.

Amen!

We probably won't get too many facts because the cast member is still alive. I hate to say it, but the media just doesn't care unless someone is dead.

Poor Cm, that is one of few jobs I would never want at Disney. The noise and smells would drive me out. We dont ride it very often because of that!

Of course, they need to be able to blow things out of proportion. It is really a shame that the media can't just do what they are supposed to do, report the facts.

My sister worked at Lights Motor Action for a bit at the Studios, she is an asthmatic and had to file a Worker's Comp claim because they wouldn't transfer her. Apparently, there is a lot of particulate that is thrown into the air during the show and the CMs breathe it in all day. She went from using her rescue inhaler maybe once a month to using it almost daily.

I can just imagine how bad it is for the CMs working at the Speedway sucking in the fumes from 100+ lawnmower engines.

That is too bad for the CM, hopefully he is on the mend. I wonder if Disney will ever switch to electric cars and ditch the gas-powered engines? That would address the pollution the CMs have to endure but wouldn't help the fact that some guests are just lousy drivers and don't follow directions.

Hard to believe anyone could be too injured. Those cars go a max of 7 mph. The surrey bikes at Boardwalk are much more dangerous. I also understand that the CM was airlifted to the hospital - with a broken leg. At least Disney was serious about getting this person attending to ASAP.

That's very unfortunate. I wonder what happened

From what I have heard (and this is pure rumor - not eye witness accounts) the CM was crossing the track when a guest pulling into the loading dock failed to stop and struck the CM. I guess 7 MPH and a steel bumper are enough to break a leg.

Yeah that should be enough. Especially with the height of those cars and the effects of how things fall after impact. Seems like a nasty way to break a leg. Thanks for posting some more information... even if it is all rumors.

Adding to that those cars really don't have that great of a braking system either...
