You can blame TDO (Team Disney Orlando) for that. All they seem to worry about is $$$ and not the quality anymore... The Fantasyland Expansion wasn't approved by them, but by the person(s) they answer to. TDO didn't want to spend the money for it

I am ok with not having attractions at all of the countries...but there is so much history and such in Italy that it's sad to see it lowered to just food.

Mexico has incredible atmosphere
Norway has history and Maelstrom
China has great history and entertainment presented
Japan has a nice atmosphere, especially with the drums
Morocco could use more...but walking through there is nice
America is done well
France is done well
UK is fine as it is with their entertainment and atmosphere
Canada has a beautiful showcase and O Canada is great
Germany has good atmosphere but could probably have something more
Italy just doesn't deliver...food and a couple of shops

All the money for new things are being spent at WDW on (1) the Fantasyland renovation and expansion, and (2) the new version of Star Tours. After 2013, we'll see what's next to get renovated or added.

I think this sounds like it going to be a good pizza place at EPCOT.

Didn' we have a whole thread about Disney having a pizza joint?

I agree with Boilerdue, I'm gonna wait to taste it, but it sounds like they went with the correct people to build one. They could have went one step better and gotten someone from NEW York to make their pizza. Now that would be real Italian Pizza!

All this talk about this putting and end to any expansion in Italy I think is wrong. Disney has moved roads at WDW to expand before. Just because it's that way now doesn't mean they can't move something in the future. I do have a question on this. Isn't it up to the host country to pay and plan for an attraction?

As far as a thread about a pizza place at WDW, I don't recall any thread that was about that. I do recall a discussion about the italian restaurants in WDW.

You make a good point about the World Showcase host country. I never understood how that works with the host country, but I think you might be correct on that. Hopefully somebody who knows this might be able to explain. I think packwingfn might be able to help on this. If I recall correctly, he worked in EPCOT.

Actually, Jacca5660 was correct. There was already a thread about having a pizza place at WDW. Here it is:

Well I stand corrected on that. My only thought for not remembering the thread is that I never posted in it. My apologies on that.

I never posted in it either. But something made me remember it after Jacca5660 mentioned it.

Do we know if they will only be serving pizza? I think it would be even better if they were going do calzones and the like.

Sounds like you want competing Italian restaurants there! If it's not already at the current restaurant, then it might be at the pizzeria.
