I would have to agree with you on that. I do think the ending to Spaceship Earth is an evolution from Horizons. It is a classic example of Disney reusing some of it's older ideas. I like that the imagineers developed an attraction with multiple endings possible again.mindflipper wrote:I like Horizons more than I like Mission: Space. I find Mission: Space actually boring. I always think of Horizon's desert/space/water film selection was the "spark of imagination" that eventually lead to Spaceship Earth's current "This is your future" ending it has now.

Remember the original imagination ride? It had the movies of figment around the top of the final scene? I always thought it would be cool if you could select your own "figment adventure" like you do now in Spaceship Earth. Such a shame they didn't such imaginative ideas with Journey into Your Imagination when they revised it.

I honestly barely remember the original immagination ride, but I have an idea of what you are talking about.mindflipper wrote:Remember the original imagination ride? I do owe a lot to the internet. There are some great videos of Horizons and WoM that have helped me to grasp those attractions pretty well. I have begun looking for some good classic Journey Into Immagination stuff. It is truly amazing how much there is on the internet about things that Disney never built, were before my time, or were removed that I barely remember.mindflipper wrote:Sorry, Len90, but - boy! - it's a shame you can't remember very well some of the EPCOT classics! It's sad Disney has never had a museum of past extinct rides. It's legacy that will be lost for future generations to experience and enjoy...

They kinda did for a little over a year for the 25th Birthday/Anniversary of EPCOT (Center) behind the Character Spot in Future World. They even had the robot butler from Horizons on display. Sadly it closed earlier last year...mindflipper wrote:Sorry, Len90, but - boy! - it's a shame you can't remember very well some of the EPCOT classics! It's sad Disney has never had a museum of past extinct rides. And very few new about it. And to me, it was done on the cheap. I would like something better - bigger area of Innovention - that could show people the entire attraction in audio and video, show some pieces from it, discuss its creation - an "imagineering" museum of attractions, if you will. It would fit to the idea of Innoventions. Could even have a gift shop (y'know how Disney loves gift shops) to sell postcards, books, CD/DVD (or something like the old red dot net kiosks), etc. based on the old attractions.

If you have been to EPCOT in the past year or two, there has been an increase in classic EPCOT Center merchandise. I know there have been a lot of really cool classic EPCOT shirts.mindflipper wrote:And very few new about it. And to me, it was done on the cheap. I noticed that as well. I was able to buy a classic shirt. I love that all the classic stuff are making a comeback.Len90 wrote:If you have been to EPCOT in the past year or two, there has been an increase in classic EPCOT Center merchandise. Strangely I do remember getting Horizons and WOM mixed up, mostly location wise when I was younger. I thought WOM was straight ahead when going to that side.
But as everyone said your getting them both mixed. Actually the one about the vehicles being like SSE points towards WOM. If you remember at the end of the ride did it have a area before you left the building with cars in it? And a little show? For the life of me I forget the name... bird and robot? lol
If it just ended with you walking out it was Horizons. Also WOM went outside before it went into the ride. Made a loop up. Also another thing is WOM had one narrator, where Horizons had two, a husband and wife.
Otherwise search YouTube for both rides and you'll find video. Should help you clarify.
Mindflipper, I remember very little of "If you had wings". I remember the song, mostly because my mom liked singing it hehe. But "Dream Flight" is the one I have fondest memories of.
Edit:
OMG that is true!!! I <3333 the classic merchandise available. I picked up a green soccer tee with all the original areas, with the original epcot ball!! I'll have to post a pic of it.
