I think they should do something special with The Odyssey in the future. Hey - maybe I'll make that a new topic!SimonTemplar wrote:Ah yes, I do remember those. I can recall purple grapes and an orange, but I'm sure there were others. That was mid-late 70s, and I think you could get them at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland.noledawg wrote:but in Liberty Square, when I was a child in the 70s, I used to get something called Little Patriot's Punch. I'm sure it was just fruit punch, but it was served in a really cool way. I think it was in a fruit shaped container. Does that ring a bell?
And I do miss The Odyssey in Epcot (only ate there once, I believe). Total waste of a prime location now.

Eons ago we used to go to Norway for the buffet.
Ok, it sounds strange, but it was small portions of hot food and cold food...and I think reindeer meatballs. really. and awesome smoked salmon to layer on potato bread...which they always suggested you slather with butter and cinnamon...and rice pudding made with heavy cream and strawberries that was so awesome.
We haven't been back since it became a princess meal location...nothing against princesses, love em, but back then it was about the food.

I agree with you about what they do with the restaurants, kcookiebaker. I used to love eating dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern until they turned the dinner time into a Character Dining. TG the lunch time is still available without characters. Crystal Palace went character dining. It gets hard to find anywhere to eat in WDW without the character dining or some other promotional thing going on. Sometimes we just want to eat...

The Odyssey.
We went there for a character breakfast on our first ever WDW trip.
I have a video of the stage show and of our group with the characters, but cannot remember what we had to eat
I never understood why they closed this restaurant.
It is in a prime location.

I LOVED THE KIKOMAN RESTAURANT. They had the best chinese food, well at least for a theme park in the 70's and 80's! We would go there when we were kids for dinner when there was only the MK and it would stay open until 10:00 or 11:00 regularly! Ah, those were the days!!!!!!!yodiwan1 wrote:In Adventureland across from the SFRT there used to be good Chinese food Kikomen I tinhk it was called, you knwo the soy sauce company. Now it is only used for MNSSHP and MVMCP.

My sister says it was "the Pantry" or the Gormet Pantry. I just found this. http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/id22.htm Has names of other places in the Village too.kcookiebaker wrote:There was a little deli in the Village, does anyone remember the name of it? We used to love going there for a sandwich and great dill pickle spear...was it the Heidelberger? It was a simpler time.

Liberty Tree removed the characters at the beginning of this year, sometime around January I believe. I did enjoy the character element there but either way I'll still enjoy eating there. Love the atmosphere.mindflipper wrote:I used to love eating dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern until they turned the dinner time into a Character Dining.
