As a kid I would always ride the left track, because of the Rapunzel mural in the pub. I thought it very risque for Disney.

Heheheh. On the last ride through I ever had on it, shortly before it closed, I remember insisting to my mom we had to ride that side so I could finally see that... She was perplexed by it being there as well (as am I, come to think of it). One of the weirder easter eggs WDI ever came up with.

whut
Isn't the back wall of the pub ... just bottles?
Besides, if you think that would be risque, you haven't been on Pirates at DL. THAT one shocked me.

As the car entered the pub if you looked immediatley to your left and behind you as the car turned the mural was on the wall. It was risque, because Rapunzel was apparently nude with her long, blonde hair covering her naughty bits. That is the reason I loved Toad so much, that one little part of the ride that was so un-Disney. It's like as a kid, playing tic-tac-toe or dots during the sermon in church; something very benign, but not expected. Like in the "sex" in the Lion King.

Huh. In that case, reason has it that a good reason the Wild Ride was removed was that it therefore contained references to sex, alcohol AND violence.
...wait, Pirates. Again.

I so loved this ride. When at Disneyland I rode it and loved it all over again. Even though it was like riding the lite version of Mr Toad it was still fun to take a trip down Memory lane.

By the by, it doesn't say "sex," it says SFX, a tag from the special effects company.

My apologies, I haven't actually seen it. I just remember the controversy. I mean who on Earth has the time to watch a movie scene by scene to see if there might be something obscene in one frame. But oh well.

i always laugh at that excuse. how many people that saw it actually thought..hey that said SFX how cool is that! compared to our sex driven world that said...WHOA! that said SEX!!! the inuendo is there no matter the true thought behind it.

I always wondered if it really was supposed to be 'sex' and 'sfx' is the excuse they came up with to cover for whichever animator got fired over that.

Granted, I'd never have noticed that frame at all if it weren't for the interwebs and people posting it. Then again, I wouldn't have seen Rapunzel in the buff in Toad if it weren't for those same internet people.

Wow, ten years. And for ten years we've all been complaining about it's closing. It's NEVER going to come back is it?

Thanks for all the links! Some great memories are in each and every photo.

And a special thanks to RobotandBird for the great analysis.
