It's so sad to see them close down Pleasure Island for more shops. Aren't their enough shops already on Disney property? The fact that they already closed down my favorite club (Rock n Roll Beach Club) months ago...I knew that the rest would see their closure come shortly after. Unfortunally, Comedy Warehouse & Adventurers Club are getting the ax too because I probably frequeted those the most after Beach Club.

Does anyone think that DisneyQuest will be getting the ax next? I remember hearing rumors about closing that down too in the past but once again, it was just rumors.

At least I already have a trip planned in Mid-September so I will be able to see Pleasure Island one last time before it is gone for good :(

packwingfn, I doubt DQ is closing anytime soon. They are still promoting it, a few months ago when they did the Month of Disney on the Travel Channel (May?) They had a whole segment of DQ, but they didn't say anything about PI.

I think this is bad, and good news. While I now have young kids and do not really take advantage of PI, I did enjoy it and look to continue to enjoy it. Maybe closing some of the clubs and adding some other stuff, etc., may be the way to go. I am also all for family stuff but it is nice for the adults to have a place to escape to and still be able to enjoy WDW. I hope they still keep some of, or add new, clubs to the mix.

There is another thread on this message board about the old Discovery Island in the Seven Seas Lagoon, perhaps a new, adult oriented Pleasure Island could reopen there. It would be a better location then in the middle of Downtown Disney. But all in all, the closing of PI is not a major loss, there is only one decent club there anyways. And like the rest of the property it is way overpriced.

Disney just needs to remember that not everyone who visits Disney has a family. There are still plenty of single or married without children who visit Disney World who would like to enjoy a little nightlife while staying on Disneys property.

This is SO sad. As a CP alum from 98/99/00, much of my formative drinking years took place on the dancefloors of 8Trax and Mannequins. Of all the crazy fates though, I'm going to be at WDW the weekend it closes. May as send it off in style!!

I haven't been there since I was a kid, Now I'll I have to make a piont to get there before it closes. I just hope they don't let to many major busnesses take over, because I wouldn't go there to shop at Starbucks. Hopefully they're gonna update the clubs or come up with something else that is great. thanks for tip or I might have missed it completly.

That's pretty dramatic but I have to say it might be a good thing. I often only go to Adventurer's Club or Comedy Warehouse and then avoid all the others anyway. God I sound old.

I was looking at an old podcast i saved "inside the magic" it had an imagineer contest for 2004. one caught my eye in particular. it was called the Villians Lounge. The focus was similar to the House of Mouse cartoon but totally themed with Villians! I have a feeling Disney has a few ideas that are going to shock us all into saying it was a great idea to close down all the curent attractions...and yes...even the Adventurers Club. Rember people if you don't like change....send it all to me, it spends the same as bills!

I never much cared for Pleasure Island (that whole exclusivity thing), but I can respect what went into the Adventurer's Club and why people want to save it.

Here's a story about the attempt to save it, with the usual complete lack of interest, understanding, research, fact-checking, and everything else the media doesn't really care about when it comes to Disney.

(In fairness to NPR, this is from their show which pathetically attempts to be "hip". They're shooting for the Kurt Loder version of MTV news, but what they've got feels like the Bring Your Kids to Work Day children decided to put on a show and pretend to be journalists.)

Note that they don't even bother to give you the web site where you could learn the actual facts (I guess they expect their audience to Google it if they care). I thought the Disney nerd did fairly well, although he's obviously just a fanboy and not a PR man...and the interviewer is a complete jackass, so he didn't have much to work with.

Thats kind of sad news. I have a lot of fond memories from College Programs days there. As an adult now though, I never go over there so I guess they could make better use of the space, as long as its not just for 3rd party "non-Disney" venders like Virgin and the like.

If I remember correctly they started having problem with Pleasure Island about a year ago. Local gangs started hanging out there crime had really shot up. Don't know if this had anything to do with it, but could have.

I agree that change can be good, but I'm sad I won't make it down to PI one last time before it closes (I've only been to AC and CW, but had a blast).

I'm going to miss you, Adventurer's Club--Kungaloosh!
