I use the FastPass system everytime I go to the parks, but I actually voted to have them removed.

Please see my Deacon on Disney for more of my views

I voted to get rid of it. We got along fine without it before.

Just the fact that we're now polling on it should be an indication that SOMETHING is wrong with it and it does need to be either rethought or removed.

Maybe. But maybe people just have different opinions.

If you put up a poll on which park should be removed, I'm afraid that many people would go after my favorite park... the Animal Kingdom. So, I don't think the fact that the OP made a poll should be a barometer of what is wrong.

I understand what you're saying, but I think picking something as a favorite just for fun is different than critiquing a system.

I chose when you buy your tickets you get your fastpasses for different time intervals. But now that I think it over, I think they are fine the way they are. Because what if you make lunch or dinner reservations and end up with a fast pass for that time. It would kind of suck. So just leave them the way they are.

Forgive my ignorance...but to clarify on the "Fastpass Package" option...that means that my ticket is scanned and it automatically would print up fastpasses for each of the FP attractions at different times and I have no control over it?

If this is the case, while it may be nice not to have to run all over the park to get a FP for all the attractions, I don't really see the benefit in it otherwise. I agree with DisBeamer. Plus, it does not eliminate the problem of having the day planned out for you in advance, doesn't change the long lines in standby, the "story" in the queue, etc.

Of the choices in the poll, the only ones I can see as viable are "Keep it how it is" or "Get rid of it completely."

OK I love the Fast pass system! Seriously. It's genius! And I can understand if someone feels a bit perturbed becuase all the passes had been distributed for the day when they arrive to get them. But you have to consider that the system is completely fair. If you snooze you lose. And when I'm standing in the Stand-By line I don't get angry at the people walking past me. They took the time to get their fastpasses. Plus, most of the time I'm standing in the Stand-By line because my fast passes aren't ready yet and I'm killing time. That's why I never get a fastpass for Indy. I love the queue line for that ride. I usually head straight for Space Mountain get our fastpasses and go right over to astro blasters and then Indy. By that time Space Mountain is waiting for us.

When I read Rich's comments on the main page, I thought about the Pre planned attacks and how the fastpasses really affect you as a guest. I've stood in the standby line and wished horrible things on people when I shouldn't have but generally I like the fastpass system. Everyone has a preplanned attack plan whether it's to do the park attractions in a certain direction or to attack some of the most frequent rides when everyone's watching the parades.

I voted to keep the fastpass system as it is. Maybe it's not perfect, but I don't think having one on every attraction is a good thing, and getting random times at the gate could really mess up your well planned day at the park. Sell the fastpass or sell fastpass packages???? Oh please, do we really need a WDW vacation to possibly cost more??? I like the fact that I can stay at the value resorts cause thats all my budget can afford, but I have the same chance of getting a fastpass as the guy in he Grand Floridian.

Yeah, that's something I just realized. If there's tension between the haves and the have-nots now, while the system is free, imagine what it would be like if it started to cost money. The Disney parks could easily turn into a battle ground.

I agree completely! Certain other parks (Six Flags) charge for thier no-line or reduced-line passes, and it simply smacks of the "haves" descending to mingle with the "have-nots." :x

In my opinion, it is simply one more way to increase profit with no sincere pledge for increased value or quality of the guest's experience. The suits would simply claim the reduced time in queue is "added value." Bad call.

why does the word Fast Pass sound like that annoying duck Aflack. fast pass.....fast passs....FAST PASS!!!!! Our First visit to Disney with our daughter whom has Autism was in 2001. we had to bring a letter from our doctor explaining her condition and we weren't sure if they would help us or not. They did. we went again in 2003 and again had to have the letter to prove her disability. in 2006 we brought the letter and they told us they didn't need it. they said all we had to do was tell them and we received a disability pass. wonder if my aunt clara uses her wellbutrin addiction as a disability to get her free pass? I would find it very interesting if they did a month without the fastpass and a month monitoring the fastpass to see what differences it makes. I personally think there is more abuse of the disability pass as well as scaming the fastpass system. ever see the fast pass tickets laying around on the ground (i'm not talking about the ones that tell you "sorry you already have one")

I sure hope i'm wrong, its just my opinion.

Well, Disney is currently testing a system that will track how much money you spend over the course of your vacation. The new system will be able to allocate FPs based on how much you have spent.

No one knows which features of the patent Disney will choose to utilize. But, they system would allow them to limit FPs to those who are not spending much money and reward those who spend more with extra FPs. Also, some people would be able to reserve their FPs up to a day in advance from their hotel room.

There were other features too fo those who are interested. I think it is unlikely that Disney would invest so much money in developing this technology if they weren't going to use it. So, I imagine we'll see at least some of these things come to pass in the next couple of years.

What I wonder is how it will track things like annual passes and DVC. Certainly annual pass holders are spending less per day than the casual tourists. Something like this could shift FP from something that benefits the regulars to something that benefits the one-time only guests.

Please explain to me what is "genius" about FP.

What does FP actually do to make the parks better?

Please, someone who supports FP, go into specifics. I really want to know how FP makes things better for visitors as a whole instead of worse. Because from my understanding of the system, it creates more problems than it solves.

I don't really think they could do this because, Can you say LAWSUIT!!! That is discrimination!!!!!! Just because someone is spending more they get FP's and those who cannot afford to spend the same amount are shafted. I hope the Disney Legals are smart enough to realize they will get hammered in lawsuits if they were to implement it.
