WOW...OK you learn something new everyday on this site. I guess I never asked a CM, I mean thinking back on it I asked another guest (I think). Maybe I will have to get a cup next trip.

Mug is definitely worth its weight in gold. Now that they are not designed after the resort you purchase them at, you can use them anywhere. Unfortunately not a great souvineer anymore. I liked collecting them from each of the different ones we stayed at.

I'm still gonna get at least 1 cup. Always makes a good souvenir, even if they stopped putting the years on them...

actually, I think WDW gets all the Coke products free, due to the amount of advertising that is done around the parks.

another interesting fun fact - according to Maxim Numbers (from which I get text messages every day with a different fact), there are approximately 46 MILLION Cokes consumed every year in all of WDW. there are also 5 MILLION pounds of french fries and 7 MILLION hamburgers consumed there per year.

Don't forget that I owe you a cup, along with popcorn, as you bought while we were waiting for Fantasmic that one night. I also owe you a ticket to MVMCP...

Don't worry about it too much I just wanted to help out. Next year hopefully I can help out again by getting an AP so we can get a discount on the room and anything else like the food.

Yeah those things are great if you drink a lot of soda, how much is a small or medium drink going for now anyways?

I always get the mug at Dixie Landings (oops riverside) and this last October the mug was more general disney art it didn't say Port Orleans on it.

I don't drink soda I am the iced tea/hot tea/cocoa person. I think the mugs are a blast. I am there at closing time filling it up. I have to get my money's worth I learned that from Grandma

We always get the mug, I think it's worth it. I might have missed this comment somewhere, sorry if I did, but now they're putting the year on the mugs so you can't reuse them. Each resort no longer has a different mug, they're all the same now. We just came back from WDW at the beginning of this month, and they've already changed them.

So how much is a regular fountain drink? Just curious how many times you'd have to fill the ole bladder to make it pay off.

looking through my receipts from December 2006, a large drink was about $2.39 plus tax. a couple of places charges a few cents more or less (between $2.29 - $2.49). but average was $2.39.

I just got back from WDW last week... I was quite upset.

I stayed at the Carribean Beach Resort, and went to buy my mug only to find a generic dreams come true mug. I was quite upset, and didn't buy it.

Does anyone know if this has been done throughout WDW??

I hope its an anomaly, and not a trend. I really liked getting the individual designed travel mug at each resort.

to save $ we bring our mugs back every trip. They never ask or have told us that it' s not aloud. We spend so much there I think they can afford a few drinks.

I will probably get one on my upcoming trip just for the morning coffee and a soda in the evenings. I'm not too concerned with the souvenir aspect as I prefer real coffee mugs for cup souvenirs. I have a nice Club 33 coffee mug that my boss brought back from DL for me.

If you figure the cost of 5-6 drinks, the cup is paid for, even with the increase. This is one of those areas where it is a drag to be in a market driven economy. The prices keep going up as long as we are willing to pay!

We bought the mugs on our last trip. Bought them for souvenirs, although using them was fun too! I would be a great bargain if we could use them inside the park! Now that would be a deal! That's not likely to happen though.
