I didn't think it was all that faster (maybe marginally), just a bit bumpier. like a few of the wheels were wearing out a bit faster than the rest...boilerbabe wrote:When my husband and I were there this past May, we thought the ride felt bumpier and faster, we thought it was just our imagination?! Maybe not?!I hope they smooth out the track a bit. when we were there last December, it seemed a bit bumpier than it was the previous time I went down.

Yeah, I noticed a few areas on the upper half of the ride (I break the ride up into two parts: the part before the 'big' drop and the part after the 'big' drop, where it really picks up speed) which previously been have tame were kind of wild. The first turn (where the flashing red lights used to be) really jerks you to the side and at one point I remember getting air-time which has never happened to me on that ride before.
I'd really like to see something futuristic done in the post-show area. Or, maybe something along the line of having docked with the space station, and now you're starting a new life in space. But then, how do you make the transition back to tomorrowland? Especially if you have to go thru a souvenir store! The area where the tv monitors are could be used for something more interesting than looking at yourself.
The Space Mountain ride itself is a classic and I'm glad that Disney does pay attention to the attractions and rehabs them periodically. Just this past weekend I was at another brand of park and couldn't stand to see some of their classic rides in such a run-down state. Over the years as effects, that were once so neat, broke down or became maintanance headaches, were simply removed. Now, what was once an unique "experience" has become just another ride vehicle on a track through the woods.

The brakes in the ride at the end even sound like they are done. Sometime I'm afraid that the brakes won't work someday and we'll go flying into the car in front of us.
And I really hope they keep the Star Tunnel Music and the music before it when you first walk into the Mountain, My favorite disney piece!

I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

I've been through on the peoplemover a few times when the lights were on for one reason or another. It always makes me nervous to ride again because it leaves me with this impression that I'm going to bash myself on some metal. It all looks so closed in and ... close. *shudder*disneydan80 wrote:I hope they find a way to make it darker, last time I was on I could see the entire track and support columns. Also has anyone else been inside Space Mountain with with lights on and found it to be really creepy?
Dan
Doesn't stop me from riding, of course.
Oh okay. I got the impression that the seating changed on the last DL rehab for some reason. Thanks for clarifyin'.broncoflyer8912 wrote:Well the seats have ALWAYS been configured at Dinseyland with the person sitting next to you like on BTM. The train consists of two cars connected to each other that each have three rows, so the maximum capacity on a DL Space Mountain train is 12 people.
