Ok...ok... as much as I'm against putting this attraction in tomorrowland, I gave it serious thought and came up with this conclusion:

It could be argued that it fits into Tomorrowland because it shows the future of Monstropolis. At the begining of the movie they sacre children and now they're moving on to the laugh method which could be considered the new and improved way of doing things (hence futuristic)

Other than this extremely weak connection... eh... it has no ties to tomorrowland whatsoever

I'm always going to have a sore spot because they ripped down the Sonny Eclipse poster to build a door when they were making this attraction. Unless someone can explain that the door is for something else, or the poster is now prominantly displayd somewhere else, it's just going to bother me too much. And it's not like the attraction is good enough to make up for this insult.
(Sorry if this sounds extreme, but Sonny E is my favorite part of Tomorrowland. Got a huge collection of related things. I'm an aquaintence of his voice actor for crying out loud)

I still can't make any real, serious connection to Tomorrowland here. Everything that I have heard is a serious stretch [and at least Buzz is set in outerspace and is also fun].

Timekeeper was great, excellent filming, low-key comedy that actually was funny, solid score, etc. Oh wait, right, maybe that's why they replaced it - because it actually worked. Granted the queue could use some work but really, that was about all that needed work. Timekeeper wasn't hip or trendy or Pixar but back in the day that wasn't what really counted anyways, quality was the priority it seemed...

If they really wanted this they should have stuck it in a soundstage in MGM, the theatre next to Sounds Dangerous is still vacant. Not Tomorrowland.

Ok, putting the soapbox back now.

no, go on. tell us how you REALLY feel.

I agree on the Timekeeper removal. It was an original idea with comedy that people actually got and a theme that fit. The queue, as you stated, could've used a little more "oomph" or pizazz. and maybe the movie/dialog could use an update after (clode to) 12 years. It was my Favorite attraction in all of WDW, and the last "appearance" of Robin Williams left in the parks.

Monsters Inc (let's say it's the Monsters Inc Floor of Laughs - MIFOL, around here to get rid of the offensive acronym) doesn't fit in Tomorrowland in any way beside MAYBE new(er) technology used in creating the attraction. And even THAT is a stretch, along with some of the other ideas people have had. We can only HOPE, once the kinks are ironed out, that it's at least a better attraction than Stitch...

Let's take things even larger, a lot of people are disappointed that the timekeeper (futuristic attraction at the time) was replaced with a the laugh floor (a pixar not so futuristic attraction). But think even farther than that...

EPCOT change the living seas (futuristic attraction all right that I'm going to miss "deeply") for the seas with nemo (again a pixar not so futuristic attraction). There are plans to change the imagination ride (used to be a futuristic ride before they replace with the new ride), are we going to have a pixar themed attraction. Are we going to see "Buzz and Woodie's spaceship earth", "living with the lands and the incredibles", "test track featuring the cars from cars"...

Yeah really! Is that supposed to be some type of inside joke or did they really not know? Oh my...I can see people walking around asking "how do I find MILF?"

Well I've not seen MILF yet. But the tech used for it is pretty advanced I hear. It's an upgrade of the Turtle Talk with Crush system.

All that said, I agree it belongs at MGM.

If any of you have been on the forums for a while you'll see this is the kind of stuff I have been griping about for years. Disney has really lost touch with what the parks and more importantly the lands represent. I hope the Monsters Laugh factory fails miserably. I'll be happy to hear if guests complain that MIFOL isn't funny and it completely doesn't fit the area. I'm really sick and tired of Disney's decisions.

Now have you ever known me to be shy when it comes to taking on Imagineering? :D

Seriously though, I forgot that this was the last Robin Williams part of WDW, I loved him with Walter Cronkite at MGM and of course Timekeeper. The comedy on both wasn't strained and came across as natural, not someone desperately trying and failing. I'm with Sub and the gang - I hate to see projects fail but this one needs to in order to maybe smack some sense into the heads in charge.

I have to say that I found Williams terribly annoying on Timekeeper, but I really liked the Jules Verne part. Personally, I don't think Williams has been funny for about 20 years, yet he keeps doing the same painful schtick. He almost completely spoiled Aladdin for me, which, like Timekeeper, I enjoyed outside of his performance.

He's a darn good dramatic actor, though.

I'll always love Robin Williams. Sure he's does the same "type" of stuff, but the content is always original. He's naturally funny.

Unlike, back to topic, this new Monsters Inc. in Tomorrowland. That's just not funny.

Ahhh... so the new Monster Attraction isn't very good huh. Wow, I didn't see that one coming.

I haven't been in that little theater in years. Is it really that small that they couldn't put some kind of ride? I wish they would have put the Monsters RIDE in there if it were possible.

And I like the acronym... why wouldn't I? Mickey I love forever? What's wrong with you peo--Huh what? Then what does it stand for?

OH MY GOD!

I was watching the Disney channel this week and saw the little segment called "Disney 365" where they previewed the new Monsters Inc show. The television segment was only about 2 minutes long, and it showed the monsters glitch and tell a few lame jokes. You think for a tv spot they'd show a really funny joke and cut any part that was glitchy. But I guess there isn't enough footage of that available.

I saw this when I was at WDW last month - it was in previews/soft opening and needed some significant work. It was marginally cute - Sulley and Boo who are two big "stars" of the movie don't even make an appearance. It was just okay for me.

I was going to post my review of the ride, but I think Kevin Yee does that for me, better then I could say it.

http://miceage.com/kevinyee/ky031907a.htm

The only point I disagree with him, is the first 1/2 of the queue. I was disappointed in the theme of it, and felt they took the cheap way out. If they did a queue as well as the new Nemo ride in Epcot, there is no excuse to reuse the Timekeeper props in the Monsters Laugh Floor.
