It was sad acutally thinking about how lively the place once was. The greatest thing was hearing the area music.
oooof that is sad...

I noticed that whole side of future world doesn't draw well. Even with Mission Space and Test Track it always has less traffic then the Imagination/Land/Seas side. Its especiallt skewed now do to the popularity of soarin.

Yeah looks like it is....

To the surprise of everyone, including this writer, the Wonders of Life pavilion at Epcot is reopening for the holiday season. The pavilion opens from November 26 through December 31, according to an internal cast member publication. Cast members begin training on the attraction's pavilions this week. While the counter service food location is closed for good, Body Wars, Cranium Command, and The Making of Me are all expected to be open during the five-week period.
weird....

It's not really a surprise. They open these attactions for crowd control because of the elevated number of people in the parks around Christmas. I think that they just need to come up with something new and stop this on-again/off-again operation. I think that the whole "pavilion" idea has lost it's luster.

They should just tear the place down finally and build something new instead of building a second Disneyland in China!

I would rather remember an attraction in its glory days, not in its dying days.

well, looks like this rumor is true. according to the official website operational updates, WOL (3 attractions listed) are closed November 25 (today) only. from then on, no operational updates on the pavilion until January 2, 2007.

only thing showing at any WDW park is Blizzard Beach which is down until January 6, 2007.

How is it durring the summer months then? Hopefully it will be better the Chrstmas.
It's not open during the summer. I was there on July 5th and the CMs I asked didn't even know what WoL was when I asked them...

My wife and I were talking about WoL the other day and for the life of us we can't understand why in the world Disney shut the pavilion down. Was it lack of sponsorship (I know that it was at least at one time sponsored by Met Life)? Given all the technological advances in medicine, it would seem that a medical/health pavilion was and is a perfect fit within Future World. It was one of my favorite pavilions and I wish they hadn't closed it down.

I believe the main reason was lack of sponsorship. the movies and such has not been updated since the pavillion opened, and the animatronics in CC were showing quite a bit of wear due to no-one paying to replace them. Half of the hand-on things weren't working either...

Yeah, it was in pretty sad shape when I was there. Body Wars was TERRIBLE show qulity. As you said, most of the stuff wasn't working and there were many, many indications of bad show. It was so incredibly un-Disney it was astounding. And had so little attention I'm not sure why it was worth it to be open. It was nice taking my girlfriend on Cranium Command, as she'd never been, but I no longer miss Wonders of Life. After going in December my memories are nuked.

So now they have the problem where they need a sponsor so they can fix the pavilion so that they get get a sponsor so they can fix the pavilion so they can. . .

I actually recorded the skipper on the cruise we went on in December. He said that quote. I believe the entire quote went:
You'll see a dock on the left and a dock on the right, we call that a pair o' docks. you'll also see a skipper on the left and a skipper on the right. we call that a pair o' dorks.
hopefully we can get the whole track up in the playlist. the skipper was really good...

now back to your regularly scheduled topic.

I don;t remeber it in it's hey-day as I was only 6 when it was last open on a regular basis. the last couple of times down it's been open only seasonally, and never while we were there. only on this last trip in December was it open, and it seemed in sorry shape. I hope they can come up with something good to replace it, and soon at that....

That same rumor floated around after Christmas 2005, too, so who knows?! I'd just make darn sure if it does, indeed, open at Christmas 2007 or any other time that you make sure to visit if you're there - it's worth seeing one last time even in it's sad state. And again - that amazing music is still playing when it's open.

I believe I'm going to be there for Christmas 2007 so if it is open, I'll take lots of pics.
