Actually, I've heard (recently) that they've already started pouring concrete and building a new station.

I also love the buses and love the fact that I don't have to drive while I am on vacation. If the bus seems too crowded, I just wait for the next one. I'm in no rush, I'm on vacation!

I also heard that the Monorail expansion will not happen because the cost was over $100 million just to expand to MGM. Disney feels it's not cost effective.

Kneadeau, Sorry to hear that Buddy passed over into the rainbow bridge. I know your miss him but I am sure he is smiling down on you :)

Ugh. We hate the buses. The next time we go to WDW we're plunking down the cash to stay either on the monorail or in the Epcot resort area (my fiancee and I were quite enamored of the Yacht Club Resort) to avoid buses as much as possible...

I've only rode the busses once and it was at the end of the day, leaving MGM, going back to the TTC, where we parked. I don't remember it being an very plesent experience. I would love if the monorail expansion rumor is true, but I don't think I'll actually believe it until I see it.
Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a full and complete stop. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at Walt Disney World.

Thanks Foldmama, The support is always welcome... you are very sweet for offering it. I think he is looking down at me! Hey! I was hoping he'd be hanging out w/ my grandmother and loved ones, but maybe He's even visiting with Walt himself! How cool would that be! My kitty getting his angel ears scratched by WD himself!

I thought the title of this post was sarcastic. Who can love busses? Disney is magical, busses are not. They are smelly, crowded polution-generators. Sorry, even the cleanest bus does not get me excited about climbing aboard.

It's that opinion that keeps me either at a monorail resort or, even better, at Beach Club, where Epcot is a walk, MK is a monorail (after a walk thru Epcot), MGM is a boat ride, and AK - well, ok, that's a bus. Sigh.

What and the boats don't polute? The buses polute less than everyone on the bus driving so if anything it cuts down on polution. I take the monorail as much as possible whilst there, because it is faster, but if I do need to I take the buses.

Has Disney switched all its buses to natural gas? I noticed a few of those down there last December... seems like a good call, with rising gas prices and all...

I won't sit here and say that the buses get me fired up for being at WDW, but it beats having to drive myself. Rather than have to park in one of the massive parking lots, they let me out close to the entrance. I really don't give it much thought when I climb aboard, it's just part of the experience. We've actually met some nice people while riding from place to place, and the bus drivers are usually very friendly and give out good info from time to time.

Having said all of that, I'm a monorial fan!!!!!!

To us, vacation means vacation from driving. Although the monorails or boats would be our first choice in transportation, the buses work just fine. The drivers are mostly friendly and funny, and the majority of the riders are in that happy, Disney mood (I'm not saying there isn't an occasional spoilsport, but they're the exception rather than the rule).

The buses can be crowded when the parks close, but since we usually end the day at Epcot, we just linger for a while and take our time getting to the bus stop. By the time we get there, the initial crush is over.

Same with us - but we'll drive to Animal Kingdom in the rental! I still am having a hard time comprehending how folks get to resort dining options without a rental unless they're leaving 3 hours in advance on the bus for the transfers they have to make? :?

P.S. Knedeau,
Like foldmama, I send you heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Buddy. Those of us who are "cat people" know what truly loyal, affectionate, intelligent, beautiful and comforting companions cats can be, and his passing must be very hard for you. I'm sure he is in "Cat Heaven," where there is a warm angel lap for every cat. (from the book "Cat Heaven" by Cynthia Ryland; highly recommended).

It's not that bad. I love that they have transportation provided. You don't have the hassel of having to rent a car, or pay for parking. And You don't even have to find your luggage! WOOHOO!

As For Dining, We like to go to the park that we're dining at hours earlier anyway, so that we can stroll around before dinner.

P.S. jbvenn Thanks so much for your support! You are very sweet.

I must say, that the people that use this forum are some of the nicest people around! :)

We always have a car with us, so if we have to use it to drive to a resort for dinner, it's an option. But we'll use the WDW transportation system whenever possible, and it usually works out well.

Disney Resort guests park for free at all Disney Resorts and Parks! :D

And! Here's a tip for those wanting to rent a car - join Emerald Club through National (there is a "free" link on Mousesavers) and you don't have to wait in a line for a car! Literally, grab your bags, head for the parking deck and take your pick from the class you reserved - we've gotten upgraded the past few times to the next class up. It's a breeze!

Bottom line is everyone is different - we love having the flexibility of the rental, especially to resort hop, for dining, and downtown Disney. We prefer to be on our schedule, not at the mercy of Disney's. But the resort transportation is a great perk and Magical Express is a fantastic option for guests who choose not to rent a vehicle. I'm glad for it, but I'm also glad we don't have to use it! :D
