Something to consider is whether you plan on doing Bush Gardens, Sea World, Universal Studios, and/or Islands of Adventure. If you are you may want to consider renting a car. I think that on a Disney site like this a lot of people tend to focus strictly on Disney and tune out everything else but I would definitely recommend both Universals, even if you try both in a day. With an older crowd, especially disabled, Bush Gardens may be a bad idea as it is mostly roller coasters and thrill rides. Sea World could be nice for older folks with the shows and all plus it has a couple of thrill rides I think (The Kraken coaster which looks awesome and the Atlantis flume which is supposed to be pretty good too).

If you're planning on just doing Disney though I would consider using the money you save on a car to go to one of the monorail or EPCOT resorts though as previously suggested by many others. Note though, they are pretty darn expensive, but if you have disabled family members a bus probably isn't the best idea.

I agree with Mr. Toad. If you do have the money one of the Deluxe resorts would be best with a disabled family member.
