Btw, whoever said Backlot Express is gone, must have it wrong... AllEarsNet has a menu for the restaurant, updated as of June of this year:

My vote is for Sci-Fi. We ate there on our honeymoon back in June 93, so it will always be a favorite. It's also a great place for the family now that we have kids, and the food is prety good as well.

Okay! I was wondering about this too. It would be sad if Backlot did close.

I've eaten at Sci-Fi and Dine as well, and must say it was fun. I'd go there again, but only for a lunch.

Next week, I have reservations for Mama Melrose and 50's Primetime Cafe. I already ate at both of them already but its been 10 years so I'll defnitely give my opinion in 2 weeks.

The 50s diner is fun especially if you get a server that picks on you for putting your elbows on the table and make you eat everything on your plate, Don't forget to wash your hands.

I love the Sci-Fi! But I'm kind of impartial for it....I have a relative in the movie clips they play. I am related to Hazel Court. She is one of my grandpa's cousins. So it's always exciting to go in there and see her in the little clips. I even took a picture of her when we were in there one time.

I also like Prime Time. I ate there for the first time when I was there in June. It was a lot of fun being told to get your elbows of the table and eat your vegatables. It was fun.

When I ate at 50's Primetime Cafe, I was taping on my dad's video camera, just the scenrary and stuff when our waiter came by and told Mom that his brother had toys at the kitchen table. So he brings my dad a beer and says hes gonna tell mom about who is drinking tonight and stuff, well my dad plays back and says that means he would have to tell who was calling who real late on the phone last night. The waiter says it's ok to say hi to grandmother. My dad replies by saying, that it wasnt grandmother who he was giving kisses on the phone back. So they promised to neither tell on each other.

And I had this whole thing on tape :)

It was still there two weeks ago, too.

My favorite place to eat for the food is the Brown Derby and for the fun it's 50's Prime Time.

Don't hate me, but I'm not a fan of Sci Fi.

50's Prime Time is so much fun, especially when you have kids with you. They have a great time with the waiters I ate for the first time at Mama Melrose in May and I really enjoyed it. Si-Fi Dinner is also fun but the kids definitely enjoy the 50's Prime Time more.

Ahh, never mind... if less people like the Sci-Fi, those of us who love it will get seated quicker. :)

The new flatbread place is in the place of Studios Catering near the Backlot entrance and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids set. Backlot Express is still open for business as reported...

Can't say I'm much of one for sitting down for a long time to eat - only been to the Sci Fi [which is very impressive]. But I do like the ABC Commisary [I know I made a mess of that, too early...] and that hasn't been mentioned yet. Good cuban sandwich there and great people watching with the window seats or outdoor seating if the weather is right. While they lack the fun atmosphere of Backlot or Pizza Planet it is still a good place to grab a bite.

Oh! Aw- that's too bad. I've only been to the Studio Catering Co. once, and it was all right.

ABC Commissary is good. I like the curry dish they have there. The only thing about eating inside the restaurant is the constant ABC commercials. I find it a bit annoying.

LOL!

By the way - eat at 50's just for the Smores! They're great!

Lion - Studios Catering has been changed for close to a year now so if you ate there when you were working I bet it was the new menu... And I hear you on the tvs at ABC, they can certainly get a tad on the annoying side!
