We had a great time. The park was pretty much empty. Rode the rides we wanted 3 or 4 times each. Got off the ride, ran back around and got right back on. The "Treasure" was chocolates and some beads. We thought we were on a treasure hunt, turn out to be cast members handing out the stuff. Still had a great time. Can't wait to do it again next year.

How does the MK close at 7pm and open at 7pm? Wristbands? Is it like Extra Magic Hours? I mean, if you are in the park during regular hours how do they get you out. With Extra Magic Hours, technically you can stay in there you just cant get on anything without that wristband. MK park hours at 9-7 and P&P is 7-12.

Yep, just like Extra Magic Hour. (Just called it a different name.) You can stay in the park, but without the wristband, you can't ride the rides. Just shop, eat, and people watch. However, there was a very large crowd leaveing as we were going in.jd3921fl wrote:How does the MK close at 7pm and open at 7pm? Wristbands? Is it like Extra Magic Hours? There have been a lot of complaints about people without tickets "hanging out" and I've heard from several people that CMs have started to "patrol" for people without wristbands and direct them to the exit.
Because a lot of people want to hang out for the parade, fireworks and forecourt shows.
It use to be the park closed at 6pm, IF you had a wrist band from 6-7pm you could head into tomorrow land, and they would do a deadman walk of the park (if you aren't a cast member you had to leave.)

From what I've heard if you are seated at say Casey's about 7-7:15 a CM will come over and inform you the park is closed and ask you to make your way to the exit. I'd say you have 15-20 minutes yes.
Between about 2005 and December 2007 they sorta treated it like park closing. You couldn't get on attractions but you could walk around and shop and buy party merchandise. This fall someone posted to RADP that they just book CP or LT at 7 or even 8pm and then walk out watching the parade and fireworks leaving CP via Adventureland and make the grand circle tour.
I had always hated the new Park open till 7 system. I would say Christmas 2006 was the worst, my estimate, and I was there for the parades and fireworks, so I didn't go on any attractions, I just staked out good places to film/photograph those things. And I would say 20-30% of everyone I saw didn't seem to have wristbands. Even if you say maybe 1/2 of those didn't have wristbands because of long sleeve shirts. That means something like 300-400 people didn't have tickets.

flatandmounty, i know you posted this almost a year ago, but no one seems to have answered you, so i figured i'd go ahead.
my hubby and i LOVED PPP! maybe it's not -as- themed as the Christmas and Halloween parties, but it's still pretty amazing, in our opinion. the parade is just beautiful, the fireworks were so cool (the castle looking like it's been blown to smithereens and totally taken over by pirates like that? really cool effect-- even if it did make tons of little kids cry lol)
we're going back in may (we were at WDW in oct and dec for the other parties), and i really hope there'll be PPP dates. the WDW website originally announced dates in may, but then shortly removed them. however, if you call to make reservations at disney dining, they still tell you that the park will be closing early around 7 on those dates. so here's hoping it's still going on!
i do agree, that the party could use some extra things...maybe a new pirate/fab 5 show in place of mickey's twas the night before Christmas? or something like that? i've heard rumors that there won't be any candy/beads/booty given out at the new part...wonder what they'll do instead...

We loved having such a small crowd at MK. We popped onto rides at will, and it was cool to see all the costumes -- if you are planning to go, wear something piratey or princessy, even if it is just an eye patch, because almost everyone is dressing up a little. Some of the costumes are incredible!
The parade has new stuff in it. Most important is probably Tinkerbell, who has never been seen as a face character before. Also, on the pirate ship float, there is a girl in the sword fight who looks just like Elizabeth Swann. I think it is a coincidence, but we all believed!
Be sure to see the pirate band in front of PoC! And the Palace Guards at the Alladin ride is a great show.
There are a lot of characters you don't usually see, like the Wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters over by the Castle!

yea, we loved seeing tinker bell in the parade in feb. 2007. i've never seen the palace guards show, we have to make sure to see that. thanks for the recommendation! last year we wore the mickey ear pirate hats (he had the red, and i had the pink).
such low crowds was amazing, i agree! i just hope that disney still feels it profitable to keep having the party in may and in later years! it really is the highlight of our trip!

sure garbnj!
i always love to talk pins!
surprise pins are pins that are released for sale to the public without any announcement first. most pins, before they are released, can be seen on the internet or under plexiglass at main disney pin trading stores.
surprise pins can sometimes be worth a lot more than announced pins since they can be sold out before major pin traders reach them (often pin traders will make sure to be at WDW or DL, etc. the day of a major pin release).
hope that helps!

I have seen pre-release announcements of surprise pins on http://www.odpt.com (the Disney Event Services website.) Which makes them less of a surprise.
