Oh man have you seen it? If you take the boat from Wilderness Lodge it will stop at Ft. Wilderness and goes right by River Country - it's totally in shambles. Our cruise guide from our Wishes Cruise last summer said it will never reopen.

Last time we were there we also rode past River Country, and I'll agree that it looked awful. If nothing else, I wish they would clean it up a little so it doesn't look so neglected.
There used to be several rumors floating around about plans for the old Discovery Island area (middle of Bay Lake), but I haven't heard anything lately. Has anyone else ?

I didn't care for River Country when it was open so I was glad to see it go. Anyone else think they will switch the breakfast in MGM to Toy Story Characters once Midway Mania opens in MGM? If it opens that is.

2) Dreamfinder returning rumors are still gaining steam. Redoing Journey into Your Imagination (for it's fourth incarnation) is supposedly a priority and would be one of John Lasseter's first things to do as Principal Creative Adviser, and to bring back things including The Dreamfinder. We don't know if John Lasseter would have the power or desire to return Dreamfinder to the attraction. Rumors also are swirling that there are plans to finally reopen the upper level of the pavilion, to tie into the twenty-fifth anniversary of Epcot, and possibly some changes will be made to the post show. We definitely feel that Imagination is due for some sort of rehab.
I've read that Disney (Lasseter) has said that the funds to do this were unlimited! After all the other things I've read and have heard, I'll wait and see!! It's been about 12 or 14 years of getting hopes up for nothing!
Has anybody heard any goods ones about what Disney is going to do with Captain Nemo's hole in the ground? I was told awhile back (like maybe 4 or 5 years ago) that the subs where comming back. Well we see how true that was!!

as far as I've heard, they've filled in the sub lagoon and it's now a Winnie the Poh playground. I don;t think they're coming back...

Yep and I'm sure it's good for little one's, but it's so sad to see. I loved 20k leagues under the sea.

It's true. I've seen a picture somewhere, taken from above, that shows the lagoon completely filled in. What a shame. Disney could have done so much to re-invent that ride.

Some reservations about the said rumors:
A weather pavillion to replace Wonders of Life doesn't seem right given that The Land somewhat covers the same topic.
A Pirates water park sounds fantastic, but it needs something truly unique to separate itself from Typhoon Lagoon and its rip-off, the Hurricane Harbor water parks.
A new film for Soarin' is very likely. Another Soarin' rumor is that there will be another set of theaters constructed in order to get the wait times down, but nothing solid on the rumors.
An Incredibles-themed ride won't happen before Midway Mania opens at MGM. Midway Mania is a rumored ride along the lines of Buzz Lightyear that is being planned for the Millionaire space.
The Soarin' theater and the Midway Mania rumors were posted at

1) Not sure a weather pavilion would have anything to do with "Future World", although most of the new stuff really has nothing to do with the future. At the very least, the front of the park tends to be very broadly about technology and/or human achievement. Some sort of hurricane simulator would be stretching the theme even more than usual. Not that I expect that this would impact their decision...
2) I haven't been to the parks in ages. Didn't realize they'd closed the top floor of Imagination. That really sucks. Even the Kodak photo contests they displayed were pretty cool.
4) I wonder if Pirate Mania will settle down now that the movie is getting crappy reviews. Frankly, at this point, I'm kind of hoping the movie sucks, just so they'll stop messing with things at the parks. Based on the type of bad reviews its getting, though, it might be crowd-pleaser, and if it does big business, it won't matter if it's good...
5) I really hope there's no Incredibles attraction. Enough Pixar, already. (Jeez, I never thought I'd say that!)
Anyway, thanks for the rumors...nothing like idle speculation to heat up an Internet forum!

Here's an inside report on some EPCOT stuff
Wonders does occasionally open for peak periods. Nothing has been gutted, it is just shut down. In fact, we just got a Preventive Maintenance order for the IR transmitters for Wonders. These are the transmitters that tell the Pal Mickey dolls where they are and what to say. Of course, the PM's are time-generated, so the presence of the PM doesn't mean the building is opening any time soon.
We sneak in there from time to time, and everything seems to be in place. I did hear some rumors about Cranium Command going away, but I don't know if that has happened yet.
The four Body Wars simulators (at $11M each) are not going away. They may change the show in the future, but it would be a huge mistake to rip out the motion bases. Those things can be themed and programmed to be just about anything. It's probably the most versatile ride platform we have on property. They could even throw the Star Tours show in them, if they wanted to. The simulator systems are identical.
