Mulan is more popular overseas than here in the US, and a bit more of a presence, however, she's easily found in Epcot in the China pavillion and in attendence often in the morning at Storybook Princess breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, as well as the stars and cars parade.

I like Mushu in the online trivia game. :D

Seriously, she is way cooler than any princess, not to mention her fabulous sidekicks, Mushu and Crickee. She's actually a good role model and uses her brain on top of it all! Anyhow, I just can't figure out why she's so absent in the parks.
Because I dont think a lot of people like Mulan and it probably won't attract to many people, and Disney's ALL for money!

Mulan was not one of Disney's best movies from a revenue point of view and the direct-to-video "sequels" are always terrible. But if you liked it, more power to you
Yeah the direct to video sequels are pretty horribile.

But for some reason, I really enjoyed the Mulan movie, not because of the money it made? Why would I like a movie because of the money it make? I just really enjoy the story.

The second one however isn't better than the first and is pretty bad but I'm just glad they actually thought of making a second one of Mulan.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

I definitely know a lot of people who love Mulan. The sequel? I avoided it so I wouldn't be sad. Still, I thought the first movie was fantastic and as far as I remember pretty popular at the time. Sometimes it seems that money is too much of a focus. It would be great to see another dark ride made from a Disney animated movie. Not that I don't love Pixar, I just hope Disney doesn't forget where they started!

There's multiple places where Mulan could easily fit too: World Showcase, Asia (AK), the studios (where she's been the most) and even Fantasyland.

 I didn't think you liked the movie because of the revenue it generated. What I meant was the sequel made very little money.

What don't you like about Mulan? I mean, not that it's a problem, I'm just curious because most of my friends love that movie.

I think Mulan doesn't get a lot of attention because she doesn't represent a typical "princess" and her story is more realistic, rather than being all about magic spells, fairy godmothers and handsome princes.

So as much as some of us older "girls" may like her story, she doesn't have the same appeal to little girls, who are into the more glamorous image of a princess. And in the past 10 years or so, it seems that Disney has focused a lot of its marketing on those little girls. It brings in a lot of money for them; I can see it in the example of my young nieces, who are big "princess" fans.

QuickGold wrote:Mulan did have a parade at the Studios at one time. Mulan (the film) wasn't that big of a film in terms of money made and Disney uses that as a litmus test for testing popularity and they use that in consideration for attractions at WDW (a notable exception is Dinosaur at AK, which was a bomb).
Like I said! It wasn't a great movie and Disney didn't make very much money on it and if there is one thing the Walt Disney Company likes it's money! They overprice everything for a reason! They love mula!!! :D :D
