This is quite amazing. It's so unfortunate people can't film. Sigh.

Ironically when EPCOT opened both Disney & KODAK encouraged people to take video and photos of the park. (Hence the photo / video oportunity points labeled around the park) You are exactly right, they are supposed to ask you to leave, in my case they detained us and declared that we were committing an act of terrorism in order to justify their behavior. Disney broke the law in so many different ways. You know people would not film all the time if Disney would release Attraction & Park discs that were worth a crap. All I want to do is document the monorails and parks so I can show my kids what Disney was like and that I used to be a monorail pilot.

Yup. I miss the old days of Disney. I miss Epcot Center. I miss WDW around 1986, back when Tomorroland was really Tomorrowland and they hadn't raped the park of it's history.. Walt would not be proud.
I hope the guys from the Extinct Attractions club heed my warnings, I had 2 digital 8 cameras (worth like $150 each at most), if you walk in with a 3 Chip prosumer camera you could be in hot water. They had no problem breaking and taking my equipment, I'd say they'd be even happier to destroy property that is worth $$$

I couldn't agree more. However when the person has a gun, they tend to dictate the situation. Trust me, I am very protective of my property.

Maybe what Disney needs to do is asks guest do you plan on video taping the parks during your visit, if you say yes then Disney should verify your ID (ie:Drivers License, Passport, etc.) do a quick back ground check, then provide you with a passport that states you have permission to video tape while in the park if you are stopped and questioned then you can provide them with a document from Disney. In these sad times, it might take something like that. I worked for an airline and applied to the TSA when I was cut back after 9/11 on hours so I am in all the systems
I have had so many back ground checks done on me it's no big deal. I appreciate the added security for my piece of mind.
I am sorry vfxpro that you had such a horrible experience! My dad is a retired chief of police and the one thing that everyone had always said about my dad is that he was by far the most respectful and caring police officer they had ever met or encountered. Back in the day the gangs even gave him props because he did not harass them, they respected him because if he busted them they knew they had it coming. The gangs back in the 70's were nothing like what is out there now though. I hate police officers giving the job a bad name because they are on power trips!!
Again, I hate that you had to experience what you did, especially at Disney, the one place I feel is sacred to a lot of us

vfxpro...wow that sucks. Sad thing is I bet this wasn't the only incident. Not to defend Disney, but I wonder if they had a report that day to be wary of anyone taping the monorail or other structural area.
Also this does not bode well for any monorail expansion.....
I've also read that Disney is planning to remove the lockers under the trainstation in MK cause they are an easy place to store a bomb, and it would block the main exits to the park.
Welcome to a post 9/11 world.....

OMG, this so sound like something the OVER-ZEALOUS rent-a-cops that Disney hires to support their security teams at Epcot. I had a similar run-in there with the likes of them several years ago, and in agreement, it WASN'T FUN. I got threatened and told to leave the park.
It's a shame cause Epcot is my favorite Disney park

Wow, I would think there would be hundreds of people that are constantly filming that they wouldn't want to just pick out one person. Just curious, was there anything that set you apart from other guests that they would have picked you to harass/profile?
