Man I can't wait till next year when I get to see this new HM.

I am just not sure what they would do to improve Country Bear, I mean they could give them a new fur coat, or new animatronics, but it just seems like it is kinda stuck where it is.

As for the Carousel, I actually hope they dont update it. It is such a classic, one from Walt himself (yeah I know it has been updated some) but I like it the way it is.

The CoP HAS to be updated if it is to survive. The "future" family is stuck in the late 90s right now...and that means that most of the younger generation out there won't know what the heck they are talking about in terms of new advances in technology and whatnot. The first 3 scenes are "classic" in their appearance only as the script has changed several times since Walt last saw it. Remember that the whole show used to be a big "plug" for General Electric...and when they dropped their sponsorship all references were dropped as well.

With all of the advances in technology and AA's...the CoP could easily be one of the best and freshest attractions in MK and it's sad that it remains neglected. It's more like an old toy that sits on a shelf to be admired as it gathers dust...rather than something that gets refreshed and played with to inspire and entertain all generations.

That mostly has to do with it not being a big draw anymore. Even if they did an update there would be only a brief surge in interest and then back to the usual low numbers. I think one of the only reasons they don't tear it down and replace it with something grander is simply that they are all built up. That and no sponsors.

They had also tried putting something else in the same rotating theatre - America Sings - and that didn't go over well. If they could think of something to put into CoP without changing the building itself, it didn't cost much to do AND would be immensely popular with a large segment of the guest population, then Disney may consider it - but I wouldn't see them doing it without a sponsor...

Nope, it was their flawed logic behind Dreamflights replacing If You Had Wings. It was a cheap cardboard attraction they thought everyone would just really love...

I would be crushed if they did away with CoP. I wish they would just update the last scene.

Ehh... judging by what I've seen and read you're being very generous with your summation of the original. I do wonder if the sponsor change did force them to change it all (as in contractually obligated)? Now sponsor will jump in and out of the rides with little to no changes.

Speaking of, I wonder what/when the death of the attraction sponsor happened? I'm guessing it was later 90's and the internet since it costs less and reaches more.

Just recently Chiquita announced their sponsorship of Living with the Land and the Crush 'n Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon. Maybe sponsorships will perk back up?!?!

I think sponsorship is more attractive when there's an actual commercial interest beyond advertisement - when they can operate and/or sell product with that sponsorship.

Yeah, but how does the Crush N Gusher help Chiquita sell bananas? I can understand the Living with the Land sponsorship, but CNG???

Hmmm I still think the concept is dead simply because it's a really expensive venture with little to no return and a very tiny audience. If I recall, even GM's sponsor section wasn't up to date as well (as in the models weren't the latest ones).

But when Nestle was the sponsor for the land at EPCOT, they also ran the food court, so I'm guessing Nestle got more commercially out of it than they spent to be a sponsor. Similar deal with Coca Cola and McDonalds.

That one I kind of doubt, they are like Siemens, Monsanto, etc. where at most they are creating awareness for their corporation in a positive light but not much else. It's one of those scenarios where you probably already buy their subsidiary's products and possibly weren't aware of it.

It is almost like propogranda, such at the GE or Merck ads, you're not going to buy a jet engine or a research lab, but you also don't hate them because they show people in various workplaces smiling.
