My kids LOVE trading pins-sometimes to my frustration when we're in a hurry.

We keep their pins on their lanyard, hanging in their room.

Extra pins = Extra lanyards

That is smart to have the locking pin backs on the ones that aren't to be traded. Then you can let your little one do what he likes with the others. "If it doesn't come off the lanyard, you can't trade that one honey" ~ I like it! Watch out when he figures out how to take the locking ones off though  ;)

They also sell very good locking pin backs on ebay that don't need the allen wrench.

I like them better because you don't have to worry about losing the darned allen wrench.

I'm actually dealing with this issue right now. My daughter asked me last night when she'd get another Pirate Minnie pin. I asked her what happened to the one she had, and she said she'd traded it.

Yeah when I was on my CP in merchandise kids wanted to trade pins all the time. I always tried to look at the reaction of the parents and try to get kids to trade pins that I could tell the parents didn't want them to trade.

That's sad :( I would think the kids would get caught up in the excitement of trading and they could easily trade away pins they really like.

Wait, you tried to get the kids to trade pins that you thought they wanted, or you tried to discourage them from trading something you thought they wanted? :?

I believe they are referring to pins that they didn't want traded for something on the CM lanyards. I did that too all the time.
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Amy what I meant was if I could tell the pin was special to the child from the parents reaction I tried to get them to trade a different pin of theirs for the one on my cast lanyard. Sometimes when kids see a new pin a cast member has they get so excited they grab any pin of theirs forgetting it is one of their favorites.

Oh  ok. That makes sense and I sort of wondered if that was what you meant
