@Amy: I don't have a small one. It would be my phone or nothing. I agree, seeing the backstage areas is pretty cool. I remember last year at mile 6.5 there was a DJ and he was playing dance music and he was yelling, "you're halfway there!!!" We were on some back country looking road.. and I remember thinking 'where the heck are we?' Lol it was pretty cool
Ok you may have talked me into carrying something :)

@cccmouse: my pace on the 22 miler was 12 min/mile. Pretty slow...my pace on the half and most other long runs has been around 10:45. I think it might have something to do with the hills we have been running...but we'll see. I really hope the super flat course will help my pace. But after this past weekend, the Mrs and me have decided that as long as we finish and get that Mickey--we will be good with it. Like she said, "on your college diploma it doesn't say your grade, it just says that you did it." That's why I love her :)

Only 12 today...and back to my normal pace..in fact a little better :D
I felt great out there...two weeks from today is the big day!
I am really hoping that the super flat course at WDW will help me maintain a decent pace.

I'm getting excited...and I'm not even running it this year!

I'm really looking forward to seeing pictures and video from the runners. I know it will bring back the good memories from past races at WDW.

I've been away for a while and we're now less then a week away. I thought I'd give everyone an update on me. My MRI was negative for any torn ligaments. It seems I just really aggravated my IT Band. I been icing it a lot and started using a foam roller. I've rested mostly over the last month and a half. I did a 5k Obstacle Zombie Run at the end of November, and have only run short distances since (4-8) miles. I did 8 last week and it hurt a bit at the end but I didn't have any lingering effects the next day.

Yesterday I stopped at a local running store and got an IT Band compression wrap. I've been using compression sleeves on my knees for two year because of pain I got in my left knee cap; but this is on my right side. I'm going to try to run 6-7 tonight with the wrap and see how it feels. I don't want to try this for the first time on race day. I'm pretty sure my dreams of 4:30 are gone, now I just want to finish. I have 7 hours so....

Just curious is there any kind of planned SR get together around the marathon?
Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a full and complete stop. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at Walt Disney World.

Wow jrcohen. It sounds like you are doing everything you can with the injury you have. I sure hope the IT band compression wrap helps you out. Definitely seems smart to give it a try before you go. I would think you will do fine with a combination of jogging and walking. Good luck!
Not sure on the SR get together. I know several people will be there. You might want to pm NaCler or wewantsdaredhead. I know they are planning on meeting up at the very least.

i thought I'd give a quick update after my run tonight. It was good and and bad. The good is after 6.5 miles at a 10:12 pace my IT band did not seem to bother me much at all. I know that does not mean it will hold up for 26.2 miles but it does give me some confidence. The bad was that i can not wear my IT wrap and my knee compression sleeve at the same time. I've been wearing a compression sleeve on my knees to stabilize my knee caps for so long it felt very weird not having that on. I have an old sleeve that's a bit looser then my new ones. I'm going to try wearing that over my IT wrap tomorrow on a short run.

Over all I was pleased with how tonight went. It filled me with the confidence that I will at least be able to finish. If i can hold that pace for the first half, I may even be able to get somewhere between 5:00 and 5:15. I would be happy with that time after the last 2 months.

Can you not put the IT band wrap over the compression sleeve?

There's no official meetup planned as of right now but I am trying to plan a meet with kcarts while we wait for our Subbers to finish. Maybe we can all meet at the finish line for a Sub pic? Any runners PM me and we'll try to make it happen.

Also, please post your bib numbers so we can try to spot you.

I am just glad that you are feeling good enough to get out and try. After the problems that you have had, you could be very proud of a 5:00 - 5:30 finish. Heck, ANY finish is a major accomplishment. Best of luck to you.

This may be a stupid question, but where on the Run Disney website do I find what my bib number is? I can't seem to find a log in area.

My wife is planning on hanging out in the ChEAR Zone and then waiting for me and meeting me in the Race Retreat. Also we're doing Pasta in the Park Saturday night and going to the after party in Downtown Disney Sunday Evening. Is anyone else planning on going to those events?

Amy, tonight I'll try both wearing the wrap over and under my compression sleeve. Thanks for the idea; I never would've thought of putting it over the sleeve instead of under!
