Wow, I've missed alot! M-dude, I believe there is bling for the 5K, Disney has the best bling I've ever seen! The info. on the marathon web site said there is a finishers medallion for the 5K!

I had to do a double take on the Donald bling but I'm pumped about it, I love how they incorporated the 2012 and 1/2! It's very different from the other one I have!

WWDRH, I'm hoping my training continues to go well, I have a chronic leg injury that I deal with, I have good runs and bad. I just want to beat my 2005 1/2 time which was 2:15:04. What kind of time are you shooting for? I want to run the 1/2 pain free and feel good when I cross that finish line! 8-)

Those VM's are awesome! Is that a count down clock?! I will have to check those out in Oct!!!

Way to go M-dude!!! Keep it up! 8-)

I am honestly the same way---I just want to finish and have no injuries, but if my training holds true, I will finish around 2:30.
As long as I finish, I will be fine :)
We have been training hard, that's for sure!

I hope your injury cooperates and you can finish pain free!!

Thanks! I was in a bit of rut with my running, I run year round, and I was having difficulty this summer with the humidity and my leg. I had a vacation and a break, so I'm hoping that was exactly what I needed, the weather should be better from here on our as well. Going to run today! Good luck with your training as well!!! 8-)

Ok, so B-babe is hurt, but how is everyone else doing with training?
Me and Mrs. WWDRH are up to 11 miles. She ran the WDW half once before and one other half, but this is the best she has ever trained for one...I take no credit ;)
I am excited to meet everyone and run through the happiest place on Earth!
(and spend a week there afterwards...)

Boilerbabe: get well soon!

Well, the good news is that B-babe is working hard and making great progress! She will be running in the half, even if she has to walk part of it... but at least she'll finish, and that's what counts.
As for me, well... I've had a lot of health and injury issues myself. So my training has not been what it should. I know I can do the 5K as planned, though, and that's all that counts for me. Poor Mouseoholic has been stuck working in Australia for most of the last four months, and has had hardly any training. She knows she'll be doing well just to finish the 5K by walking most of it, but she's going to try her best. That's all we can ask.

Do not worry at all about how you finish the 5k. No times will be recorded or published and no awards will be given ( except for the finishers medal). This is purely for fun and enjoyment. The important things are 1) Have fun and 2) Just finish. I plan on making this my SLOWEST 5k ever. Just taking it all in will be reward enough for me.
Training for the half is still going well. I am averaging about 35-40 miles per week which is what I have been doing for about the last year. Thankfully no injuries to speak of. Just hoping to stay well for the next 3 weeks. Probably about time to start hitting the Zicam and Airborne on a daily basis just as a precautionary measure.
Everyone keep up the training. The finish line is almost in sight, both literaly and figuratively.

I really wish I had been training this whole time so that I could run with all you great people. But it's been a tough year. It will be a little easier training in warm Florida this year and maybe we can do it all over again in 2013!

You'll have to watch the warmer months much like we have to watch the colder months here! I'm afraid these old bones will never run a marathon, but I hope to cheer everyone on some day in the future :D

You don't have to run. With a 16 minute per mile pace requirement, you could pretty much walk at a medium quick pace and still finish within the allowed time. I would almost be willing to bet that there will be nearly as many walkers as there are runners. And if you finish first or dead last you get the same finishers medal and the same shirt as everyone else, assuming that we are talking about the 5k.

That makes it sound a little like there are different things for different places in the marathons...is that the case?

There are diferent awards for the top 3 overall finishers and the top 3 finishers in each age group in the marathon and in the half. The finish times are also recorded and published. In the 5k there are no top awards and no times being recorded or published. That is why it is called a "fun run". Most people are out there just to have fun and to be able to say that they have run through Epcot for a reason that does not involve a fastpass for Soarin.

I've walked/jogged 5k's before with different charities multiple times, but if I'm running at Disney, I want it to be at least the Half. That way I can accomplish something I've never done before in a magical place like Disney. I appreciate the encouragement though.

The last couple of months have been h%%l for me with illnesses and injuries. Most recently, I was bed-ridden for almost two weeks with what I call the "Asian Screaming Wombat Death Flu", a mystery virus that they never did clearly identify. I even spent a day in the E.R. coughing up blood (sorry....). So, bottom line is that my training has gone to h@@l in a handbasket. But I'm still going to run/walk the 5K, no matter what. And poor Mouseoholic has been stuck in Australia with no opportunities for any kind of training, so she's going to have to walk the whole thing (if she even participates at all, now...). But we're going to be there! That's what counts! And with B-babe fighting her injuries, she will most likely be walking most of the 5K anyway because she'll be needing all her strength to complete the half. But that's okay, because her mom is going to be walking the 5K. So probably the three of them will walk together. :D

More opportunities for mayhem and photo taking if y'all are walking anyhow ;)

Update....I was able to run 4 1/2 miles yesterday!!! We won't discuss my time but the point is, I'm running, and didn't expect to be able to do that so soon! :D I didn't have any pain for the first 2 miles! After that, the issue with my back/leg were very tolerable, nothing that would make me stop running. My therapy is obviously paid off. It's been a painful long road, I've got lotsa bruising to prove it too. I'm not done with therapy either, but that which does not kill us only makes us stronger right?! I've been working really hard with my stretching/strengthening. I'm motivated to keep going. My only issue now is, will my body continue to cooperate and TIME. I don't have much time to build up my endurance now. I certainly I'm not going to PR this race, I hope to be able to run most of it though?! At this point it's going to be a start/finish. I admire my dad, he's right on track with his training, we both run year round, but he's been ramping up for this one. He's up to 9 miles!!! He's a fiesty 64 year old! :D

Anyway, as M-dude said, we will be walking the 5K. My mom suffers from a rare auto-immune disease, Scleroderma. She was diagnosed 4 years ago and was never sick a day in her life until then. She used to speed walk and man was she fast. Obviously this disease has taken it's toll on her. But, she's a fighter, has some of the best dr.'s at N. Western and is managing. She is signed up and is going to be walking the 5K. So, this is really a little miracle for her. I think it was meant that I walk with her instead of run this one. And we can enjoy and take pics. along the way! 8-) So, any walkers are welcome to join us!

Looking forward to seeing all of you and praying for good weather and some mayhem too, of course !
