Rides That Need To Be Renovated

What's the point to having on-board speakers? How can you hear the music over everyone screaming?

Oh trust me, on California Screamin', they've got the tunes pumped up. Kind of like on RnR coaster too. The music is loud enough to be heard over the screaming guests! Although the last few times I rode Cali Screamin', my train's speakers weren't working either

I wonder if the same is a problem now on DLP's Space Mtn cars?

Could be? I thought that perhaps they didn't have the music anymore, but I would hear other trains rolling in the station with the soundtrack thundering away. I just seem to have bad luck with that sort of thing...sigh. I suppose I could have asked to ride again in another train but I never spoke up...

Nah, the only stuff they did in the last big refurbishment was make it darker and redo the queue areas. Oh and apparently rebuilt an exact replica of the track (so it would be smoother). They did try out Rock'n Space Mountain in 07, but apparently it didn't go over too well with the bulk of guests.

The speakers never worked when I was out there riding it. I was real excited the first time since SM in WDW didn't have onboard speakers, but then there was no music anyhow disappointing...

They also redid the car's audio system as well, if I recall.

I am not sure if DLRP has that problem, but whenever I rode it (mission 2) everything was fine.

With Space Mountain: Mission 2 and California Screamin, both have the soundtrack start and end as the car leaves or returns to the station.

1. Prince caspian. Whats the point?!?!
2. Dinosaur. Too jerky. Too fast.
3. Stitch's great escape. Its weird.
4. Space mountain. Its just Rock'n roller costar in the dark.
5. The Primevil whirl. Jerky, no point, dosen't really do anything.
6. Carousel of progress. Its just downright weird.
7. Studio Backlot tour. Kids don't enjoy it!!!
8. Great movie ride. BORING!!!
9. Snow white's scary adventures. Isn't snow white sopposed to be a nice pretty princess???
10. Honey, I shrunk the kids playground. Its just a waste of space and money.

I would have to agree with you for the most part though. As far as Space Mountain goes...it was way before Rock'n Roller Coaster and the two are only similar in that they are both in the dark. RnR is great...but it is soooo short that it's almost not worth riding if you have to wait over an hour. Trust me...I've been there and done that.

It is kinda short... But hey? What about test track?? We stood in a 70 minute line, the ride malfunctioned, and that added 20
minutes on to our wait. When it got fixed, we rode the 5 minute ride. The ride was fine. Just not worth 90 minutes of our day.

Personally, I would love to see them renovate the Astro Orbitor. The ride itself is fun, but the seats are just too awkward to sit in. A lot of the times people don't know you can fit two people (which leads to longer queues?), and if they do they choose not to because it's too 'weird' to sit in - and I don't blame them.

Those seats do have to be among the most uncomfortable seats to ride in

To me, top of the list the CoP needs to be more than just renovated - it needs to re re-done entirely. There's just too much of a jump in time between the third act and the fourth act. It needs to be more spread out the different eras it covers.

Just think about how many people would go to see it if they redid the entire thing! Focus would be put on progress and the great innovations each generation from 1900 to 2010+ has made. It doesn't even have to be centered on electricity...but rather progress.

Maybe mindflipper and myself should work as consultants for WDI and help them out with this.

Totally agree. They're difficult to get in and out of and the angle feels strange to me at some heights. And we never ride together because it isn't a very comfortable fit.

I think that if the Imagineers do the final scene right...and make it impressive...it will be a hit for years to come. I know that would be very difficult given the half-life of technology...but an attempt would be nice. Going back to the version at the World's Fair...Walt charmed people with the progress of yesteryear...and then wowed them with the progress of the near future. This can still be done today.

I wouldn't be too worried about them taking away CoP though, it's cheap to run and only requires a few people to operate the ride. It being "Walt's thing" or "At the world's fair" doesn't really factor into it. They really have no reason to even try to improve it because they can then tout the claims of keeping it as close to the original as possible.

which makes total sense...keeping it in Tomorrowland...a land that was created to be continuously updated...
