They use NFC and would need to be held to a reader, which would be somewhat costly and pointless. Since this isn't a security issue and unless it got out of hand, they would actually stand to lose more by making such an effort.

While probably true...they have to be losing a ton of money with the existing FP system that prints tickets...even ones for people who try to get FP too soon after getting one. So I almost wonder if WDW has the long term goal in mind of getting rid of a lot of things costing them money...and replacing it with the wristbands and readers. If something costs you $10...but you save $5 in getting rid of what it replaces...you are technically only spending an extra $5 for upgrading.

Paper stock is cheap though, and in both cases they are paying an outside company for the system and service, it is probably a wash since they have to pay out tech fees due to the app. They do, however, stand to have better data on what guests do during a stay and (more importantly) make the impluse purchases more likely to happen.

I think something like this, if it can save me precious time to do the things I want to be doing instead of "waiting", on a very expensive WDW vacation, is fantastic in my book :D. Can't wait to try it out!!

I don't like the thought of wearing a band for my entire vacation. I know it's progress but I'm not looking forward to this one. Plus, think of the obnoxious tan line we'll all have!! :(

What's the difference in the tan line you'd get if you wore a wristwatch? :?

Considering that most people do not wear wristwatches anymore since their functionality has been rendered obsolete, they wouldn't have the tanline.

I'm one of those ^ people, although it's because my stupid wrist gets a rash in protest of the watch.

I wonder how easy it would be to attach the wristband to a belt loop on pants/shorts. For the most part...you would probably only use it when you would have used your Key to the Kingdom card...so you wouldn't need it out and ready at all times. I guess I'll just have to see it in person to get a good feel for it.

Interesting Tiki ~ I wonder if the different color bands there are standard or are the ones that they have mentioned being available for an upcharge?

Or maybe the different colors indicate different resorts, or levels of resorts? Or just assorted colors. :)

Kinda bummed, I did not get a band during my stay at Port Orleans - Riverside. I did have the tap to enter key card though which was awesome. :) More later, got lots of work to catch up on for now...

Seems like it could be a huge time saver and make things easier. So, assuming it works correctly, I'm game. I'll deal with the tan line.

The bands aren't even ready for guests... Ugh the Internet needs to stop yakking about this. :x The bands were JUST tested by executives. Barely a week ago.
