I still think they will leave the walkway open - it may be narrow, but it will be open.

It is good to see that Disney will be making more walkways around Fantasyland after this construction is completed. However, during construction what are the closures going to be like. It almost seems like the area between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland will be shut for construction since they have to make the castle wall. I don't recall if this has been addressed, but it looks like it could leave Pooh and Tea Cups in a tough situation. Are they going to get shut down for some time, or will they be only accessible through Tomorrowland?
From what I see in the maps, Toontown will be closed and Pooh's play area will be closed as well. The area from Tomorrowland past the tea cups and toward the merry-go-round is the most open area in Fantasyland. There should be enough room to at least walk there. I don't think that they would completely close off that access from Tomorrowland to Fantasayland.

If they were to work back to front, they could actually keep the existing Dumbo open until the rest is completed and then shut that down to complete the castle wall.

Whoops! After further review, I stand corrected. They will need to, at some point close off that walk way. Unless they really piece work the project. Should be interesting!
That is why I raised the point. There just seems like there is no way to complete this project without at least temporarily closing down the area between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

Actually, same could be said of the other end where they are building the "castle wall/gate". To put that wall/gate in will require for some time cutting off one half of fantasyland from another.

The only thing I can think of is that they are going to do this in pieces and open areas (even if just to walk through) in pieces. But from what I can remember, that's not their MO.

They have to move Dumbo before they can start work on the wall. All in all, I hope the wall is one of the first things finished.

Now if you look at this it basically has the areas where the work will be done in three boxes. If this is accurate, that walkway can stay open.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see......

Looks like it will be very sketchy as to how that goes. I would say it is almost a guarantee that Dumbo will be one of the earliest things that needs to be done. When that closes, it will be a VERY narrow area left to walk in between the wall and the Snow White/Pooh building.

When the wall is built, it most likely will cause either a very narrow walkway or the separation of Fantasyland. (as mindflipper posted). It looks like that might be the case the more I look. IMO, that would make Tomorrowland a pain to get in and out of and a nuisance to accomplish all the attractions in the park.

Well, we can theorize all we want - but we won't actually have any real idea of what will be done until they actually start doing the work. I'm sure Disney's people have looked at this for months before it was publically announced and already have a plan in place to handle this situation (fingers crossed).

Kind of a bummer that there will be major construction going on when I am down there in August. The heat will be bad enough as it is...but creating bottlenecks will make it that much more frustrating. I'm sure it will be worth it in the end though...I'll have to keep reminding myself of that.

On a positive note...this will be the first time Splash Mountain will be open for my trip since 2002. Last few trips for me have been in January when it is down for scheduled maintenance.

Well, since you'll be there in August, at least we may get some "construction in progress" pics for this thread!

I'll be sure to get some shots of the friendly iron curtains they put up down there. :D

I think we will have plenty of updates once the walls go up and Dumbo temporarily shuts down. From what I have gathered through EXTENSIVE picture studying and park layouts there really is no great place to get those pictures of construction like in California Adventure. The best attractions that might offer a peak as to what is going on are:

TTA, Tomorrowland Indy Speedway, Astro Orbiter.

Other than that, it looks like it will just be pictures of walls and whatever people can get through a hole, crack, or over a wall. From what I have seen out of CRT, I don't even think you will get to see anything from there.

Isn't there a window in the restaurant in the castle that faces out in that direction? It may also give a view. As for the speedway, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't erect a high enough way to prevent the construction from being seen from even there.

I assume you will be able to see something from TTA...since you could kind of see part of Toontown Fair from up there.

Was thinking the same exact thing. We have ADRs for March 24th but thinking not much will be going on just yet then but if I see anything from that view I will certainly take some pics as share when we get back.

Maybe I'll try to see if Tink can take some pics for us when she comes flying down.
