I'm rather nervous about this. I really don't want the feel of this ride altered too much. I'm all for maintenance and a few tweaks but I personally don't want to see a fast launch or loops on this classic. Hearing that it may be only 4 - 8 months makes me feel that significant changes like this are unlikely.
1980, 2000, 2005 and 2008 all had plenty of magic. Hoping for a bit more in 2010.

Even though it maybe only 4-8 months, there is still a chance it is a total overhaul. The track will be built off-site and assembled once completed. If they keep the current layout of the queue (which they really can't change considering it rund under the track for the railroad) it would just be "minor" superficial changes, no real construction. All of this can be done simultaneously.

I hope they update the different scenes on the different walkways. Also maybe make the ride dark again. Like almost everyone else; I hope they don't mess with it to much. I don't see it being a full refurd, not in the time frame Disney has given.

I hope that this is just a rumor about WDW Space Mountain. I love the old ride, its a classic. I do wish they would turn down the lights again. If they do refurb it I don't think that they'll change the outside profile of the mountain, they would've changed that back when they were refurbing all of tomorrowland. I think WDW Space Mountain may have been the first SM, and it still seems to be one of the parks most popular rides, I think mainly becuase of it nostalgia and hype from the past. So it might not make it a prime canidate for refurb. I could seeing it needed a better track inside. I wouldn't care for music like in other SM. and I would hope that they would use the best parts of the queue. Thanks for the Paris mountain photos, theirs looks faster, and I think Space Moutain Mars would've been a cooler name.
