we really enjoy the sit down meals that the dp allows us to have and it lets us budget and pay for our entire trip before we go

Sure they're for your son . . . come on . . . admit it . . . you love them just the same.

With everyone's reviews, I'm going to look into it. Our kids are picky eaters too. But, we're extending our stay to 5 nights, 6 days and we were going to incorporate a character meal.
Shhh don't tell but I sure do love those character meals! Sometimes I even sneek in the photos too! He he!
The best value on the dining plan is to do a dinner meal. Breakfast tends to be cheaper so try and stick with the dinner buffets. If you go to allears.net they have the menu's and the prices online.

I absolutely think it is worth it! First you definatelly save money on the plan, second your meals are prepaid so no worries about budgeting for most of your meals. And third, there is a lot of food!

just note that adults do not recieve appetizers and tips are not included except for signature dining locations

My husband and I wouldn't be caught dead without it! One of our most important things to do is sit down and enjoy the food. We don't eat like that at home so it's a big treat for us.

People with kids! Even if you have picky eaters...consider it! There are plenty of places with pretty straightforward all you can eat meals and they will usually have a children's menu in addition. Liberty Tavern and Garden Grill come to mind at the moment as examples. :mickey:

Croaker, when you refered to the land as being bad, were you talking about the Sunshine food fair, formerly Farmers Market? Just curious cause I used to love this place, never had a bad meal, and so many choices, enuogh to make everyone happy! It's been a very long time since I have been so it would make me sad to know it was no longer any good.

Meal plans

I recently went to WDW and got the meal plan for the first time in years! It was worth it for me bacause we eat out every night! Depends where you plan eating check the menu before you go and see how the prices are!

:!: On an off note, I would like to add that I personaly have found a watered down menu at most of the places I ate. That exotic item that you couldnt get anywhere is gone and now it is a hamburger. Does anyone think this is because of Disney giving away free meal plans? I wish, what ever the reason, they bring back some of the different dishes. Just something that my parents and I were discussing after the last visit is how the Disney menus are changing all over, has anyone else noticed this?

I think it all depends on the specific trip. We try to figure out where we want to eat first, then see if a dining plan fits into our plans and if it's cost effective. If it fits in and it's cost effective, we'll buy it. If it doesn't, we don't.

We never fit our plans to the dining plan. After all, we're on vacation!

one sit down meal a night more than pays for itself! The only drawback now is the lack of appetizers and the tip thing...but for the standard plan I think it's still worth it, not having to worry about paying for the meal while you are there!

We use it, however look at what you are likely to order and add up your value. For Dh its a real value, he loves a good steak! I am a vegetarian, those are on the lower end of meal prices. Its less of a value for me, more of a break even.

For us it is really worth it! We go at least once a year and part of the fun is eating out at Disney World! If you have planned more than two sit down meals it is fantastic! It really pays for it self! Depends on how long you go to! We go for 9 to ten days!
Who is the fairest in the land! Snow White is the fairest in the land!! We all have something great to add to the world which makes us all the fairest in the land!!!

We have done both and I personally found that the AP discount with "Tables in Wonderland" are more of a discount than the Dining Plan.

Our family doesn't really have big eaters so all the desserts and snacks would just be wasteful to us.
