I was thinking about this the other day. I was around Disneyland during the year they closed Fantasyland for the makeover. My friends and I used to ride the Skyway on a round-trip from Tomorrowland (no exit in Fantasyland obviously) just to look at the constructions.

Could they ever do the same thing in Floriday? Close the whole land for a year? Seems unlikely. But it would be great to revamp that area and make it more story book like. Maybe they could do it in sections so parts of Fantasyland are always open.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Well, the walkways are wider, so they could surely do one side of the path at a time. If they could pave over 20K without shutting the place down, they could certainly give the land a facelift.

It would be an improvement over the strip mall look of the land.

There's also prime real estate on top of the existing attractions. They could have put Pooh on top of the Toad (or, y'know, on that whole area they were about to pave over across the way) and managed to "plus" the land without minussing it at the same time.

Fantasyland is the heart of the Disney experience. It takes us back to the magic of childhood, when all the stories you heard were real. I love Fantasyland, but agree that it COULD use an E ticket attraction. The loss of the submarines was quite a blow.
I do have to chuckle at all of the people who lament the loss of Mr. Toad, though. My husband was one of them. All I ever heard was how awful it was that Pooh replaced Mr. Toad. Don't get me wrong, I am not a huge Pooh fan, but my husband just went on and on......until we went to Disneyland last spring. He finally rode the Toad again. He was so excited. When we got off, he just looked at me and said, "I didn't remember Mr. Toad winding up in Hell."
Now, don't get me started on Pooh replacing the Country Bears in Disneyland.......

I go to Fantasyland for PhilharMagic and Peter Pan. Other than that.... it's pretty much just a palce I cut through on my way from Tomorrowland to Liberty Square. Too many screaming kids to dodge in Fantasyland for my taste.

Every time I go to Fantasyland I tell myself I am going to go on Snow White and Peter Pan. Well...both queues are always packed and not worth the wait. So I haven't been on either ride since probably the mid 90s. I guess you just have to get there when the park opens, but I am usually riding Space Mountain or Thunder Mountain RR at that time.

Since I have never been to Disneyland, I can only speak for the WDW Fantasyland, but this is what I think:

Overall it is okay. It tends to be more of a place for little kids, the youngest part of WDW, so I tend to like some other lands better.

The big bright spot in Fantasyland is "it's a small world". I may be crazy, but I *LOVE* that ride!
The only other attractions I ever go on in Fantasyland is "Philharmagic" and sometimes the carousel and occasionally the Pooh ride.

Personally, I could do without "Peter Pan's Flight" and "Snow White's Scary Ride" or whatever that Snow White one is called. I am sure there are much more interesting rides they could put there. Of course, the rides are always packed, with a long wait time, so I guess they will not be going anywhere.

I am not a fan of "Dumbo" but since it is very kid's first ride (including my nephews) I think it should stay.

For me, this is one of my favorite lands at the MK and in WDW. I find myself going on almost all the attractions at least once and in total tend to spend a few hours in Fantasyland. Also, some of my favorite attractions are housed here including Philharmagic, Mad Tea Party, and Peter Pan.
