Maybe Rich Uncle Pennybags will step in and sponsor it, only if they agree to bring back The World of Motion!

I hope you are right. That is true about those those other ones. I remember how really pathetic it looked when you exited Spaceship Earth to a bit empty walled off room. I was really an eyesore!

It is a very popular attraction, but with the way the economy is, I wonder how much money WDW is willing to put into it with thier own money.

I wonder, do you guys think another car company would swoop in if GM did back out? I was reading on a JII site about how one year when Kodak's sponsorship was about to run out, Fuji tried to swoop in and take over. But Kodak stayed on (and unfortunatly the abomination of a ride that was the second JII ride came out of it *shiver*) Thank goodness that ride didn't last long!

Well, maybe the CEO could step in with his 51 million to run the attraction...

I personally feel it could be a new car company. It would require a bit of a redo of the ride, but that queue video has gotten really old. All of the cars in it are mid - 90's models.

I was a butler at the Haunted Mansion. It's where the uber clever screen name came from.

Good.
The HM got redone and is even more amazing than it was before.
Yeah, this was about the only thing (for obvious reasons) I knew about. I've kept myself fresh, I can't wait to see it.
Liberty Tree Tavern no longer has a character dinner
Sad. :(
Barack is getting added to the HoP...
ZOMG THAT'S CRAZY!

TBQH, if the Space Mountain refurb gets pushed back/shortened/doesn't happen, I'll take it, for selfish reasons. It's what I miss more than almost anything else, I couldn't deal with a whole summer without it.
Why?

Why couldn't I take a whole summer without Space Mountain? Because it's one of my absolute favorite rides and one of my dearest memories. I'd hate it being closed the entire time I'm there.

Aww, but you can come back. And Space Mountain is a pretty bumpy ride. I'd be happy if it was smoothed out. Don't worry, it will come back stronger and better than before.

That's still yet to be determined. They have said that the Budget is being cut for the project. This makes me sad, this means that they most likely will not do as good a job as Disneyland did. I don't want to anger anyone with that last statement but remember that when budgets get slashed it usually doesn't work out well.

I'm still not convinced their goal was ever to do 'as good a job' as Disneyland. DL's Space Mountain was down 18 months and it wasn't the kind of total track overhaul some people are talking about for WDW, which is (supposedly) going to be open for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season this year.

I've heard (and experienced in October) that SM has been going offline a lot lately. Looots of emergency stops and having to walk people out, etc etc. I'm really thinking their goal will be more like the 2001 rehab of the Haunted Mansion, where they just gave all the mechanical systems a really good clean up to keep the thing running for longer periods. It's about the same length of time HM was down - assuming the the late 2009 reopening is accurate.

Question sort of related to that: I know WDW's SM went down last in .. 99? I believe, for a big refurb. When was the last time DL's went down, prior to the overhaul? I'm wondering if DL's was just in worse shape and needed the extensive redo?

Coming back is easier said than done, especially when you're a poor college student on the opposite corner of the country. And it's one thing to come back on, like, a spring break trip and ride it a couple times. It's another to have a whole summer to enjoy it.

I sure understand why it has to go away, I just wish it could be while I'm not there, like with the Mansion. :(
