Disney is currently very limited in hiring, as the wait line is past 1,000 people.

Seems as though this could be a perfect time to cut back on operating some of the less-liked or less popular attractions, and start saving their operating costs that way. That may also set the stage for some of the improvements so dearly needed, as talked about extensively in other threads...

Many off-season park regulars schedule their trips around where the nighttime attractions will be each night. This seems to indicate to me that guests want the shows more than nearly everything else - including, to a certain extent, convenience! If that's the case for many guests, why are they cutting shows? {I'll admit, the following is a rant} Likely, since it affects the least amount of "guest time" and simultaneously has a huge dollar savings. I'm guessing someone is looking at dollar/hour savings rather than dollar/guest satisfaction savings once again.
To do the improbable, we first have to dream the impossible.

^ I agree about the Tiki Room. Seriously, who thought that the addition of Gilbert Gottfried would improve the Tiki Room? When has the addition of Gilbert Gottfried ever improved anything?

That's an insult to ducks everywhere, comparing the sound they make with Gilbert Gottfried's voice. :D

I think theBIGyowski is referring to Gottfried's voicing the Aflac duck.

Well one would think with normal people having to cut back, so would Disney. I don't see CEO's cutting there checks each week!

I know even with the new insentives, we are not planning a trip. I wish we were though.

I agree about the executives cutting back their pay! Like the Ford GM work for $1 and let the rest of the money go back into the company!!
Geez I really don't need to get started on that stuff

not the jungle cruise, you have to keep that one :D though I don't remember the one at WDW only the one at DL.

The JC is actually a very popular attraction unlike the new Tiki Room and Stitch. JC tends to have some of the longest lines of any ride in MK, granted that's as much due to a rather inefficient load/unload when compared to other rides such as PotC and Space Ranger Spin (I know that SRS has very long waits but that is despite the load/unload not because of it- it's actually quite efficient, like HM which often only experiences waits when the stretch rooms start hitting capacity and there's a backup waiting for them.)

JC is probably one of the most costly to operate and maintain though is my guess :-\ Outdoor faux-AA exposed to the elements (they are not the legit AA figures you'll find indoors for that very reason, but I'm sure they still have high upkeep values), a CM skipper on every boat, and I'm pretty sure the boats actually do consume some kind of diesel but someone would have to confirm that. I've been fearing a bon voyage to the ole' JC since 20k got axed for similar reasons, although I'm sure the underwater figures were more difficult to maintain than the JC ones.

Unfortunately, that is a bunch of PR BS. Yea, a CEO probably has a salary of a couple million, but when you're talking about hundreds of millions in losses or worse, it's really a drop in the bucket. And don't think they aren't being compensated handsomley in some other form such as stocks (although not all that much of a deal currently) or other benefits and incentives. Trust me, no CEO is hurting at a multinational company in anyway other than maybe some crushed pride and bruised egos.

We did the JC the day after Christmas, just before closing with "Mike" as our guide. I hadn't laughed that hard, that long for a long time. He was AWESOME!! It's funny how the attraction is exactly the same, but the cruise is always different. (Thanks Mike!)

BTW, we totally skipped Tiki & Stitch.

I did Stitch once and will never go back again. That bar came down so tight on my shoulders that I was actually in pain everytime it pressed down during the show. We did the Tiki room in 07 and did not go back in 08.
