I've always heard that the 24th to the 1st is the busiest, crammed in, get to the park at opening or you're not getting in time of year. We were there last year up to the 18th, and while it was crowded, it was actually less crowded than, say, the middle of summer. I think the real crush starts right before Christmas.
I would suspect the 21-23 period would be the ramp up period. If they've been to WDW before and aren't set on going on a lot of attractions but rather just soaking up the Christmas atmosphere, then I'd say they'd probably enjoy themselves. If they're going to be put off by long lines then they might want to pass.

I've suggested they pass on this trip. IMO, the money they would spend would not be worth the return. While the Christmas atmosphere would be nice, the overwhelming crowd potential may make enjoing a decent number of attractions impossible. I guess it's possible that the economy may cause a decrease in crowds, but it's still too much to spend to end up waiting in line after line for the few days they would be there.

it all depends on WHEN you go during the Holidays. Crowds are lowest right at the beginning of December (from the week after Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas), as well as most of November (right up until Thanksgiving).SimonTemplar wrote:I've suggested they pass on this trip. Dr. Ravenscroft and I went down in December 2006, and the longest wait we had was about 30 minutes for Soarin' standby. We were able to do EVERYTHING we want to at least twice, some things even more often. all during the holiday time. The only thing we didn't do was resort hop, because we were having too much fun in the parks.

I never thought of resort hopping to look at the decorations. I'm gonna be there on 12/7 (quick business trip with a free Sunday afternoon) and was just planning to check out the Osborn lights and MK displays. But I might just have to stop by a few resorts too.

No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

I didn't get to resort hop this year and I'm really saddened and disappointed. I couldn't get everyone's schedules to work together. Maybe I will go AFTER Christmas, but it kind of defeats the purpose to me. Does anyone know how soon they start taking the decorations and the trees etc down?

I believe that they keep them up until about January 4, or thereaboutsBlackie Pueblo wrote:I didn't get to resort hop this year and I'm really saddened and disappointed. Many of the decorations are still up for the first week or two in January, just as js said. I would highly recommend resort hopping, they have the best decorations! The Epcot resorts were really surprising, be sure to stop at Yacht & Beach Club as well as the Boardwalk!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I saw great displays when I was down there last week! I saw gingerbread displays at the Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Contemporary (Sadly, I didn't make it to GF). The Wilderness Lodge had an awesome tree in the lobby and the Yacht Club had a train display set up.
