hall of presidents closed temp.

Post by brye » Dec Wed 10, 2008 12:00 pm

we were just at WDW and the hall of presidents was closed for adding barack stuff to it.

just curious, is this something they do for every new administration? i've never been in there, and wanted to this trip, and was upset that it was closed.

yes, with the coming of a new president, they always close to add his bust to the waiting area, his animatronic self to the attraction, and his voice over work to the audio for the attraction. I believe they also take it down periodically for routine PM and cleaning and such

I am not too sad that this attraction won't be open for awhile. It's prolly my least favorite thing at WDW.

A very whitewashed history of our country.

There's no reason why this attraction should highlight dark areas of American history. Enough colleges bash America already, and the attraction would be a dismal failure if Disney did the same.

The American Adventure managed to touch on a few of these areas, while still remaining appropriate for an uplifting show. As with just about all the Disney attractions, they just need better, smarter, more respectful writers.

I won't say it's my favorite attraction but it's good for a nap. Last time I was there though, I got into a huge fight with my husband. For the life of me though I can't remember what it was about. So now it has that extra notoriet for me, lol.

I have been going to WDW since 1989 and I have never experience hall of presidents. It was closed on my last visit earlier this month and will be closed on my next visit in March 09. But hopefully will be open in September when i go for Food & Wine Festival.

Not that it's one of my favorites. We do still enjoy it. When we were last there two years ago, people were booing G W Bush. That's the first time in my life (I've been going to WDW since 1975) that I've ever heard anybody boo in the HoP. I think it was a statement, I just hope it won't be one that continues with every new president.

The tradition of having the current president speak began with Clinton and ends with W. They are taking time to go back to the old format where, after the "roll call," Lincoln does his little stand up routine. I believe he is the only one who will speak.

I've actually heard Washington is going to get up and speak too, now. And that they were still talking to Obama about doing a little spiel, though the Washington thing I heard seemed more concrete. Both rumors, though, of course.

I suppose there's a lot less chance of George and Abe getting booed.

I've heard that George, Abe and Obama will talk. With 3 presidents talking..maybe it means that they will shorten some of the video? I'm not sure thought but I will defnitely be there on opening day to check it out.
