I have been on this attraction numerous times. The first time I did it, it was during a soft opening and it was I believe above 2g. Thankfully I don't get motion sickness! My brother gets motion sickness so he waited for us outside. My mom and dad went on with it and we all got off the ride feeling it. It was pretty funny since they had a garbage can placed at the exit and a CM standing next to it with a clipboard. It ends out being they were keeping a count of how many people used the garbage can after riding the attraction.
I have been on it a few times after it opened and was at 2g. I really enjoy it and love the hype that you get with the pre-show and queue. I have also been on the green team ends, and found it even easier than Star Tours or the now defunct Body Wars.

I "like to ride" it but I don't love it. I think it's an intersting attraction, but I think it was way too overhyped by Disney for what it is. I'd rather Horizons. The blast off is pretty amazing, but after that it's kind of lame sometimes. I also wish that the "interactive" features, actually did something. You can mash the buttons, intentionally steer off course, etc. or do absolutely nothing the whole ride and it's exactly the same. It reminds me of this old video I had with a handheld laser firing jet you shot at the screen. It supposedly affected the video...but it was a tape.

As others have said, Mission:Space is very much a one-trick pony. It's a worthy successor to Tomorrowland's old Mission to Mars attraction, but not to Horizons. It would be cool if the pavilion offered additional experiences, like maybe a "ride" in a sort of Martian land rover utilizing Body Wars/Star Tours technology.
It would be intriguing to add an interactive element to the main ride, but they'd have to do it in such a way that one person couldn't crash the ship and "kill" everybody. Perhaps a Horizons-like "choose your ending" feature where you get to choose where on Mars you land or something.

I REFUSE to go on the spinning version of this ride!!! I am very claustrophobic and get motion sickness easily (induced by spinning) so I'll be opting for the non-spinning version when I ride in December. I have no problems with roller coasters, but anything that spins (including the teacups) makes me ill.

If you are very claustrophobic, this is not a ride for you. It is a very small space and the harness closes you in even more.Soarin08 wrote:I REFUSE to go on the spinning version of this ride!!! They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I've never ridden Mission: Space either.
I'm the same way, Soarin', except my specific problem is I don't like being "spun" upside down. I'm not really claustrophobic, but some spaces do bother me. Spaceship Earth absolutely freaked me out in 2007 during the ascent portion. Heights don't bother me, but I kept thinking about the fact that I was going up into the "golf ball," and I felt trapped. I didn't enjoy the experience one bit. So I know if that bothered me, M:S is a bad idea for me.Soarin08 wrote:Ok, count me out totally then.agingerbugg wrote:If you are very claustrophobic, this is not a ride for you. We just returned from WDW and we decided to try the "green team" this time. It really wasn't bad at all. We went on MS when it first opened and you didn't have an option of witch "team" to be on and we all got sick. BLAH! I must say, I didn't really care for the "green team" it really left something to be desired.
Even the Orange Team is not as strong as it was intended.... For me it is a instant go. I like the way they made the exposition/pre-show and liked the advanced training lab at the end...I played way to mutch space race tho.
The ride itself is great but, I was and still am disapointed that all the hud...do nothing. It is encloded and orange team is spinning. But, if you sit back and look foward most people will get by really fine. I often leaned my head or came out front just for the sake of '' training''...or just laughing at my neighboor....depend!
In a nutshell a good ride...That need to be modified one day and MUST add more real content about space, more information!

Spaceship Earth made you feel trapped? That's a new one. I think I might give the non-spinning M:S a go, just to see exactly what it's like. As for the intense version.... I'll die without ever riding it.Donalds1Fan wrote:I've never ridden Mission: Space either.
