Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but I'd love to see the Earful Tower as the symbol again. It means so much more to me than the hat, which blocks a perfectly lovely view.
Two side notes: js, I thought you were talking about ET as in the alien, boy did that have me confused!
Also, every time this thread comes to the top I keep thinking the hat is finally moving! Wishful thinking...

Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

When is this happening? Is it a definite or just rumors?

Unfortunately not a rumor. Will be cutting back to 2 shows a week starting in January. Not sure what they plan on doing with the 7,000 people per show on the other 5 nights - gonna be a huge demand to see this show when that happens.

I personally love the hat, however not so much that they have a high school musical show there. could that be anymore lame?

I love the hat! I never really thought about where it is/should be

I guess it should be moved to another part of the park like everyone says.

I agree, the Hat is a perfect symbol (and park central icon) for DHS. Fantansia was such a masterpiece and what else can anchor the movie-based park? Much better than the Chinese Theater.

The only place I feel the Hat would be better suited is directly in front of the park. Right where people walk in. People can walk right under the hat and into the park. The only dram back I see to that is photo ops. Maybe they can put it ON Earful Tower, lol that way they can incorporate both!

I didn't offend anybody with that post where I bumped up the thread, did I?
The WDWCelebrations logo has been changed...

edit... I also just realized Subsonic Radio has their own background theme of the four park icons, including the hat.
I hope I didn't put that all too bluntly earlier.

I like the hat. But I never really experienced MGM without it at an age where I would appreciate the Chinese theater. I have to admit that when I went this past year (for the first time in 13 years) I had a difficult time locating the theater because of the hat! I think I didn't even go see the handprints and stuff because the way traffic is naturally directed around the hat back towards the Toy Story Mania area.
But I do like the hat because of it's aesthetic value:

I got to see the real Chinese Theater for the first time this past May and it was kinda weird. It was just like the one at WDW. Going to have to say the one at WDW was much cleaner and didn't have homeless celebrity look-a-likes hanging around outside of it.

I grew up in So. Cal and most people don't know just how dirty of a city Hollywood is, and yes it is very grungy by the Chinese Theater. It certainly is nothing like it is in the movies or on TV. So many people are disappointed when they go there to see it in person. Which is a sad reality

I like the hat but not at mgm (thats right its still mgm to me:twisted:). Heres what they could do... They could put it on the EPCOT ball and before you get all mad they should take the ears off and replace them with big orange horns, thats right, for those of you that have seen the figments world pin set you know what im talking about, for those of you who dont look up figments world pin set.
