Travel Channel-Season of Disney

Anyone besides me see any of these "new" shows on Disney World? Some previous footage, some new stuff. I thought they weren't bad. Interesting juxtaposition between the "Disney on a Dime" and the one where the people spared no expense. Samantha Brown wears on me bit after a while.

I always enjoy watching anything that's about the Disney parks, it gives me a fix until I can get back there again.

Although I would have to agree, Samantha does wear on my nerves after a while! I wouldn't mind having her job, that's for sure!!!

I thought putting those two episodes back-to-back was pretty funny, too! I don't think I would ever have the willpower to do "Disney on a Dime" though - it's too much fun to splurge there!

When I saw the Royal Treatment episode, I decided that I HAVE to have my wedding there someday!

Spodie~Have you ever seen the Food Network episode with the wedding at WDW? It looked amazing! We wanted our wedding to be different and not that expensive (think Las Vegas and Star Trek) or I would have done the Disney wedding!

. I really want to see the whole thing. Everytime I see a Disney wedding on TV, or at the parks (like at the pavillion on the Boardwalk) I want to have one there even more!

I think the specials were pretty good. Samantha Brown's was pretty good, but not much to add from her other specials. I think her Great Hotel series for the Disney Deluxe were her best. Does anyone know if those are available on DVD? I have them on tape but its not the same.

spodie, Just FYI the weddings they showed are I about $50k (my best guess) and I wouldn't be shocked if some of them where pushing $100k.

We did about the minimum you can do, Wedding Pavilion and Lunch/Reception at the CA Grill (the one thing we/my wife did that was "Extra" was the coach.) We came in just over (about 10% above the minimum charge.) And personally I don't think you can end up much closer. As each of the business units you deal with (Entertainment, transportation. catering, florist, photography/Event services) has a minimum you have to spend with them.

Add in that if you use non-disney services for anything but catering they still charge you. Catering if you want food it MUST be Disney, no outside food.

All that said, bottom line is they are the only game in town if you want a "Disney Wedding".

I read somewhere, though, that you could invite an ordained minister to your room, say one of those swanky suites at AKL, and get married there if you're doing a very small, intimate ceremony. Anyone hear of that or know if it would cause any problems?

Disney has 2 "Ceremonies" (really packages.) One is for less than 11 people including the bride, groom, and person performing the ceremony. The other is for 11+. Really all this means is what the minimum is you have to spend based on the contract. In 2005 as I recall it was $8k and $20k (total bill for everything, then each business unit you contract with like catering has there own minimum you have to spend with them.)

Now I don't know if you are Roman Catholic or not. But... rule is you have to get married in a "Church" which means not shire (Mary Queen of the Universe). As I've said before you must be at least as tall as a church to ride the wedding attraction

So I don't see how you can arrange for an official Catholic wedding in a room.

In general, Disney looks at wedding stuff as just another "event" so you can do it any where you like on property. There are some rules like if you do in a park, you either have to buy tickets for each guest, buy out the park, or hire some Disney CM as hosts. But other than that pretty much where ever you want.

We were told in 2005 if you wanted to do it infront of Cindy's castle you HAD to do it after park closing (they no longer do "buyouts" at the Magic Kingdom, and won't do it while there are non-attending guests in the park.)

I liked the shows but Samantha Brown's were the best. My brother got married at Disney World in 2003 at the wedding pavilion. It was truly beautiful. I guess we were part of that 11 and under package stated above. It was so pretty to see the castle behind them as they were getting married. Although they got divorced a year later

But he's since remarried(not at disney this time) and has a daughter whose been to Disney World more times than I've been and she's only a year and a half.
