I don't know how you can judge if it's fun or not....you haven't ridden yet. That's like telling how a car handles just by looking at it. You can't.
I believe WDI has gone the extra mile here. Just the queue is extremely themed and then you have the ride which puts a ride like Buzz Lightyear to shame.
This is by far the best use of the Toy Story brand for an attraction and the use of the characters out on the street to set the tone with the Green Army Men using Monkeys in a barrel to get across the way and then you feel like you've shrunk down to the size of a toy as you walk in....it's quintessential Disney. It's not on par with say Tower of Terror or Pirates of the Caribbean, but this is going to be a staple of the Studios for years to come.
Bottom line, don't judge the ride until you actually go and see it and ride it because you cannot make these sweeping statements without actually being there.

You absolutely can if you're not judging the ride experience itself, which I have not. You don't need to be sitting in the ride to examine the design or the technology.QuickGold wrote:Bottom line, don't judge the ride until you actually go and see it and ride it because you cannot make these sweeping statements without actually being there.

Keep this main thread going, its already hard enough to find topics and this one is clearly established with pro's and con's about the ride, so I don't see a need to start a new thread. It would be just another duplicate of a topic already being discussed.
That's just my opinion.
That's just my opinion.

Let me put this in perspective. Soarin is a very fun attraction to ride because you can smell the smells and feel the wind and being there is what its all about. Just watching a ride video doesn't do it justice. Same holds true with TSMM. You can't see the video and have an informed opinion of the ride.Captain Schnemo wrote:You absolutely can if you're not judging the ride experience itself, which I have not. Argh. Well, if you're not going to read or respond to what I've written, then I'm happy to call it day.QuickGold wrote:You can't see the video and have an informed opinion of the ride.
I don't really want to be overly negative about this attraction, since it could potentially lead to the removal of Buzz and in general I think the parks need more fresh C ticket attractions, I just wish they'd put more thought into the design and theming.
This is the kind of thing they can churn out in a few weeks and I suppose the pressure is on to pump out those handful of new attractions. I don't know why they don't just go ahead and build a Pixar park as they could fill it with attractions like this and ease the crowds at MK and the Studios for those of us that love classic Disney. I mean, I can and do enjoy Toy Story and all of the other Pixar films but why not put it all in one place.Captain Schnemo wrote:Argh. All of you missed the 2 hour argument about Toy Story Mania between these two in the chat two days ago.
It was quite interesting and there were a lot of valid points.
I have seen the video and I think the ride looks fun but am disappointed it's so open and symmetrical. A bunch of flat walls with video screens.
No doubt, I'll ride this on most visits like I do with Buzz (at DLR) but the style and treatment could have been better. I don't need to ride it to see that.

Since Disney has now acquired Pixar..... Pixar = Disney. I'd like to see things move to the point where there is no "seperation" between original Pixar characters and Disney characters; they are all Disney characters now.GhostHost wrote:This is the kind of thing they can churn out in a few weeks and I suppose the pressure is on to pump out those handful of new attractions. I'd hate to get involved is this debate, but this old arguement is something that really bothers me. Disney aquired abc and espn. That doesn't make those Disney. Disney could easily get rid of them. Pixar is an animation company that's currently under disney control, but that doesn't mean it's Disney. Unless Disney invents a company branch from scatch, it will always be someone else's. If they were Disney's alone, they wouldn't have to write "Based on Disney-Pixar's Toy Story" under every Pixar attraction title. Disney doesn't write "Based on Disney's Peter Pan" above the entrance to Peter Pan's Flight. The only thing that's Disney is Disney.Since Disney has now acquired Pixar..... Pixar = Disney.
However, I do agree that the studios would be th perfect place to display the Pixar entities, because there really isn't anything Disney about that entire park.
