I think my expectation was too high because I was let down by E:E. The actual coaster portion of the ride, I felt, was too short.

I liked the backward part. That actually thrilled me very much. I thought the animation sequence when the train stops was cool, as well, but I thought they'd do more with that. I thought they'd give the impression the Yeti was coming toward the train and make it more frightening. (Maybe they did that and I just didn't get it.)

Then, on the part I was most anticipating -- the Yeti audioanimatronic -- I barely saw it. The train was moving so fast and it was so dark, I didn't see it until I was directly under it. (I had seen the three-part episodes of Making Expedition: Everest with Joe Rohde, and I was truly looking forward to this part of the ride.)

I will definitely ride it again, however, if only for the queue. Maybe if I have a forward seat, I may get a better glimpse of the Yeti!!!

The second time we rode, we were actually in the very front seat of the train. It was awesome because when you get to the top of the hill, before the backwards part, you have the MOST spectacular view of the property. It was crazy. Also you could see how some of the track mechanisms work, which I personally found really cool.

The downsides to that were that it's a pretty violent ride once you start going backwards (because you're basically the back of the train), and we still only barely saw the Yeti. I, too, was expecting a really cool animatronic and it just didn't happen. I heard that he malfunctions sometimes so I thought that might have been it - he just wasn't running right? I don't know where you hafta sit to get a good view of him. I'm starting to wonder if there -is- a good view.

If you sit toward the back of the train. I think there is a somewhat better view. It goes by so quickly it's kind of unfortinate. Such an expensive audio animatronic brakthrough and you get to see it for about 1 seccond...

Do learn from my queue mistake: DON'T use the fastpass for this one your first time through. The theming is everything on this ride, and the queue sets it up very well. I took a FastPass my first time through, and ran through the non-existent wait in the queue the second time on the ride. I found myself letting other riders pass me through the queue, just so I could take it all in.

Overall, it's a fairly weak coaster (I'm a HUGE coaster junkie), but like many have mentioned before, the theme is without equal at all the coasters in DL or WDW.
To do the improbable, we first have to dream the impossible.

We made the same mistake. I watched Samantha Brown ride this with Joe Rohde and I really wish I had taken the time to view the queue more thoroughly.

You know, I hear a lot of people say that. When I took some friends on it for their first time they all said it was awesome but too short. Does anyone else hear this a lot?

In technicalities, Everest is actually longer than the average coaster. While it isn't as intense as the more popular ones, its definitely at least one minute longer than rides like Dueling Dragons, Rockin' Roller Coaster, Kraken, among others..

I'm also one of those people that thinks it feels like it's way too short. I came up with these reasons why it feels this way...

It's all stop and go, there's no real long segments of continous "coaster" that many roller caoster fans are used to.

It's basically a bunh of forward and backwards helixes. The track doesn't vary, so it feels like the same thing over and over again.

It's an amazing ride, but I think the track layout could have been designed better.

I love the experience of EE...like everything else in Disney it tells a fantastic story and makes me appreciate the small Disney touches like the queue line is awesome to look at too. Great and totally worth the Fastpass or the wait in line

the combo of the great queue, going backwards, a smooth ride, and the view @ the top from the front makes it great....

Everest eventhough is a rollercoaster, it is so smooth that you almost feel like your on an attraction rather than a thrill ride. You will enjoy it. Just a word of caution though, my wife thought it is rough. the problem with this is if you tense up and put your head back against the headrest (which is a hard padding) you tend to get bounced around. relas and don't rest your head against the back rest. Good Luck and Enjoy!!!

There's a Yeti ?? No way. He's a myth, doesn't exist. It was just a cloud of snow or fog.

You will/should never get a good long look at him.

(Unless you watch Monsters Inc that is. Thank goodness this ride missed out the Pixar link.)

:ariel: I love everything about this ride - the effects, theming and music. The yeti animatronic figure is excellent and so is the shadow animation.

I agree with "mehardy", a good idea to not keep your head back on the headrest. Plus, better to see all the cool stuff if not locked back in that position.

This ride definitely takes a great stand-alone thrill ride and once again, its kicked up Disney style with the effects.

Side note, I almost don't mind the line so I can take in all artifacts you pass by.
