Although Coronado does have the best bus system... never more than a five minute wait. :)
AH!!!!!! I love Coronado Springs. It was the one of only two resorts I have been to more than once, POP Century being the other (cost reasons). I don't count Ft. Wilderness as one of them because I camped in a pop-up camper first, then stayed in the cabins, and finally I did the tent thing. Three totally different experiences.

But Coronado is one of my favorites, What don't you like about it???????

To me it seemed like it was too spread out and possible to get a room that extremely far away from the food court, much like CBR.

On the other hand, I found the atmosphere to be quite nice, particularly the "southwest" section with the dried river bed.

Of course, it wasn't 95 degrees when I was there, so I can see the appeal of a shadier resort in the summer.

OPINIONATED RANT TO FOLLOW...

Shnemo's reason was one of the main reasons. (I believe it is actually the largest Disney resort in terms of area). In the summer, there's almost no shelter from the sun or rain during the long walks. I don't know how long they've been doing this, but when I styed tehre, they used the large golf-cart-stylish cars to taxi people around the central lagoon. I understand that other resorts use these too, but it really takes away from the atmosphere seeing them constantly driving around the lagoon.

The other downfall of the resort is that it's basically "Diseny's Convention Center Resort". There's almost always a convention going on tehre which causes problems when huge lines start to form for lunch at pepper market and to catch a golf cart taxi. IMO, they should provide seperate food and transportation facilities to people attending the conventions. That would solve half of the resort's problems.

Like I said, the theming is on par with everything Disney does. Each section of the resort has a distinct feel. It's also the most frequented resort by the bues (probably in part to the fact that it's a convention center). I just don't think I'll be staying there again...

i voted for the Polynesian. Although The beach club is a close second. The dolphin is third on my list simply for the beds...they have the most comfortable beds i have ever slept on!

I've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge only once, but it was my absolute favorite. We stayed there during Christmastime and it was the most magical of all the resorts. Since then, I've started handling snow removal in my business and I can't get that time off anymore. (Maybe if I become successful enough, I can sneak away.) Nonetheless, for me, the Wilderness Lodge is my favorite. I still remember the aroma in the lobby.
  :D

I've stayed at three of these hotel. The Grand Floridian, Port Orleans French Quarter and Beach Club. My favorite is probably between Port Orleans and Beach Club. I stayed at Beach Club in 2006 and it was sooo nice. I loved it. Grand Floridian was pretty but not worth the money in my eyes. Port Orleans is nice because I like the atmosphere. I voted for Beach Club.

I voted the Polynesian. I'd wanted to stay there since I was a little kid and it actually lived up to everything I thought it would be when we finally did in Dec '04. Fantastic all around experience, and I can't wait to stay there again now that things have finished being renovated. :)

It's a close race, though. The Wilderness Lodge is great in terms of its rich themeing, and is beautiful at Christmas. The Contemporary, post-newest-reno, has absolutely gorgeous rooms. I have a soft spot for Port Orleans (the original, now aka French Quarter) and the Caribbean Beach too, as those were the first that I stayed at and I like the secluded feel you can get at each.

Agree with this whole-heartedly. My mom and I were staying on property a few months after the Cornado opened so being good Disney addicts, we had to go check it out. I should note this was in August and we didn't know much about how the resort was laid out.
We got off the bus at the back of the resort (the furthest guest rooms) to walk forward to look around as we went. In the spectacular August Florida sun and humidity, I was pretty sure we were gonna die. And then when we -did- finally get to the lobby building, it was full of REALLY LOUD people in suits, screaming into cell phones. Bleh. The property was lovely but, like Cheshire, I won't be stayin' there. ;)

I have to say the meandering paths around POR really give it the upper hand for me. Contemporary, Beach Club, and Boardwalk are on the closest next-up IMHO, but more for their convenient locations.

Stayed @ Poly when I was a kid-so it was also be in my memory, but the theming is absolutely gorgeous. Contemporary has a great view. Loved POR when I was a teen- good place to walk around. Stayed @ POFQ when i first traveled to the world on my own. And recently AS-sports- b/c the price (more days in the world). Eventually, would like to check out AKL.

I absolutely love Animal Kingom Lodge / villas. The theming is just amazing, the rooms are very nice, and there's nothing like looking out onto that savannah in the mornings. You feel like you're in Africa!

PS -> Boma rocks!

THE GRAND FLORIDIAN! This hotel is the best I have ever stayed at in my entire life. From our room we could hear the howl of the dog from the Haunted Mansion. Our room faced the water and at night we saw a green sea monster swimming about. The lobby of this hotel is amazing and I love the orchestra music that is played live. I also love how close it is to the Magic Kingdom.

I've also stayed at Fort Wilderness and this was so much fun!
