Block Party Bash

Post by Lion Sleeps Tonight » Mar Tue 04, 2008 5:42 pm

So, the Hollywood Studios is getting rid of the Stars and Motorcars Parade in a few days. Actually, the last day to see it is March 8th. And in place of that, they are getting the Block Party Bash, which is the parade from California Adventure(I believe).

Are you guys excited, sad, indifferent? I've never seen it, so I'm curious to know what everyone thinks about this new addition to the Studios.

I'm not much of a parade person, but with that being said I found the SMP to be one of the weaker parades at Disney.

We generally skip the SMP, so I'm not sure that the change will affect me much.

I actually thought the Stars & Motorcars Parade was pretty good and fitting for the Studios. That being said, I don't stop to watch it (or really any parades) anymore. I haven't seen the Block Party Bash. I might have to check it out once, though.

i saw it in california in 2006. it was cute, and fun. if you're a pixar fan, you'll probably enjoy it. if you're one of the people that feels that pixar is becoming too much of a theme at wdw, then you might not like it.

eh, i don't see how it fits in with DHS, the whole hollywood theme, but whatever. a lot of the parades didn't, i guess.

Unfortunately, I don't think the parade, regardless of the name or theme, adds much to this park. So, I'm indifferent to what is ending and what is starting.

we never really stopped to watch the SMCP when we went in December 2006. Only daytime parade we watched was the Disney Dreams Come True parade at MK. the others were the night parades for the special events. we try to maximize our time while there.

My friend says it's awesome. I'm not too sure if I'll like a parade that doesn't have Mickey Mouse in it but I'll defnitely give it a shot. I have no idea what to expect from it.

I agree. I really enjoyed Stars and Motorcars the one time I watched it. I can see how you could consider it lackluster against other parades. The music certainly wasn't as good. But I enjoyed seeing some of the non-Disney characters. The Star Wars and Muppets floats were a highlight for me. And I did feel it fit the theme of the park better than a Pixar parade.

Having said that, I hear the Block Party Bash is cool and I'll withhold judgement until I see it for myself.

i liked the army men, and while i am not even remotely a fan of any parade but spectro (but am forced to watch every one anyway), I thought the music for this one was great.
and the number one hardest thing to find in Walt Disney World is.....5 consecutive smiling children!!

I never actually stopped top watch the entire parade go by, but if I had to pick a daytime parade to sit through (I count Tapestry as an "evening" parade), I would probably choose this one. I thought it was cool how they decorated the cars to be character-specific. The Magic Kingdom parades will come and go without notice for me, but I think I may miss seeing this parade as I exit the great movie ride and head over to muppets.

I think it was because it had a little bit of character like Tapestry, Mickey Mania and MSEP. It wasn't just random floats with oversized scenes from movies - it had the distinguishing feature of being composed of all cars. It may not have been the best, but it will be remembered simply because it had character.

And about it not fitting into the park... I always liked to pretend that they were on their way to see some Hollywood premiere or something.

Here's hoping that I'll enjoy seeing pixar characters on my short walk from GMR to Muppets 8-)

I thought the Stars and Motorcars was fun for the Studios, but it has been around for a long time. Almost as long as the current Magic Kingdom parade, but that's fodder for another thread.

I guess I'd prefer something totally original to the Studios. The Block Party Bash does have some wild floats, but I'm not one for that audience participation so it doesn't really thrill me.
