How old were you on your 1st trip to WDW?
Moderator: Moderators
I was 30 when I made my first trip with my wife (29 at the the time) and our son (2 at the time) in 1996. I went for a convention and stayed at Coronado Springs. While I worked, my wife and son went to MGM. On my free day, we all went to the MK.
12 years later, our family (now 4 of us, including our daughter) will be making our 7th trip to the World, and we consider ourselves "veterans."

I was 8 in 1976 when we camped at Disney, did the water park and Magic Kingdom. It was indeed magic and I have been back 12 times since. Every two years my sister and I have gone. It is a little harder now with a 2year old and husband. The first times we went we stayed off site but then we started staying on the property and have been at Dixie Landings/ Riverside ever since. Love it!

I was 24 when I first went to WDW in 2006. I live near Disneyland, so there's never been a big push to fly across the country to visit a different Disney theme park. But then, after a rather traumatic family even, my mother thought that we should get away for a few days, and she let me choose WDW. It was great, even if we did try to smash 4 parks into 3 days while battling jetlag. Thank god the mattresses at the Dolphin are so comfy!

My first time to WDW was in 1992 when I moved to the Orlando area. Since then I have enjoyed many years of annual passes at WDW. Currently, I do not have a pass but being married now even as a Florida Resident it is just over $700 for both my wife and I, ouch! And unlike Sea World and Universal, no monthly payment plan at Disney, boo.

I was 21 when I first traveled to WDW. It was with my boyfriend (now husband) and his family. They've been many, many times and are now DVC members. It was on this trip that I first experienced the magic of Disney and when my husband proposed in front of Cinderella Castle. We honeymooned there. Needless to say, WDW has a special place in our hearts and vacation budget.

1975 was my first trip. I was 2. I don't remember that trip, but I remember when I was 4. Being on the monorail, going to the Magic Kingdom and seeing the flowers and the shrubs shaped like the characters was pure magic. After that, every time I'm there, I can see the flowers and the characters made from the shrubs and I automatically feel like I'm 4 years old again!

I was 14 and it was 1976. The parade was "America on Parade" since it was the bicentennial year. I still have the bicentennial pin from that year. Nothing like the pins traded now. More like the big birthday buttons. It has Mickey, Donald and Goofy with the flag, fife and drum. I still have the park map in my scrapbook, too. We stayed on the 10th floor of the Contemporary with a view of the Magic Kingdom. I will always remember my dad saying how expensive the room was ... $75 per night!! Don't I wish I could stay in the Contemporary for that price now! I guess they didn't have limits back then on how many could stay in a room because it was my parents, myself, my three little sisters and my (younger) uncle. We made pallets and the kids slept on the floor. It was terrific!!
I too was 14, and it was October 1971, as a member of the 1076 (+/-) piece band that marched down Main Street on opening day. Didn't get to see much of it that day, but we got something like 7 books of tickets for participating. Always fun to walk down Main Street and see things through the eyes of a 14 year old again...
I was in the womb during my first visit and returned EVERY year at Christmas time until I graduated from college.
Haven't been back since...

1978, I was 2.5 years old. The Magic Kingdom was the only park there. Wow what a different place it was back then. I can still remember everything about it even though I was so young. The Haunted Mansion was my favorite along with the Pirates, and they still remain so after all these years because of the nostalgic feeling it gives me.
