I'm sorry, but I wouldn't trust a CM who doesn't work that particular attraction, or even in the same park. It's like me asking a (somewhat distant) family member CM who works in the AKL what is going on at Pop Century. I'm sure that CMs hear rumors and side conversations on occasion, but like at my job, most people are most concerned about the job they're put on, not what's going on across the building or on another floor...tmptnr wrote:A cast member that I know who plays lumiere in the MGM beauty and the beast show told me the carousel of progress is going to be closed but who knows... I hope they dont close it. I still enjoy watching the years go bye. It's turly a classic

There are always rumors about COP being closed for good but this so far hasn't come true and the attraction seems to be a seasonal ride depending on what else is closed. This would be a real tragedy to close beings it got to be a part of history in the theme park world, and a place to take a well deserved break when it's hot.

I was a COP Cast Member when they closed it in 2001. Every day, there were handfuls of people that would complain to me about it being closed, and I recommended a trip to Guest Relations to each one of them. Maybe (let's hope) they actually received enough complaints over the years of it being closed permanently or seasonally to keep them from permanently closing it any time in the near future.

With the band wagon jumping of the imagineers lately I'm surprised they haven't had the idea to change the Carousel of Progress characters into Pirates showcasing their booty over the years!!! In the background they might put a Jack Sparrow looking around! LOL!

Oh, that last scene has dated... It could be a great ride if thy'd spread the gap even more. 1900's, 1950's, 2000's and 2050. Or go with the turn of the centuries: 1800, 1900, 2000, 2100.Guy wrote:I really good ride, that just hasn't dated!

But I agree, its a timeless ride... glad to hear it was open in May which is not necessarily peak attendance time.

I would guess that there are just a few rides/attractions that will probably never close. "Its a Small World", Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents,Fantasyland Carousel, and Dumbo. Those are disney milestones. it would be like New York City deciding to tear down the Empire State Building because its too small, or adding a new dress to lady liberty...although a navel ring would be cool...(kidding)
