AE was the very first ride my family did!!! It scared the bejeezus out of me, the mom, especially. I did not appreciate being trapped in w a monster and blood and darkness. SO I rode it again and again. Well, you don't actually RIDE it,you sit there, trapped. As Stitch, boring, but still scary for little ones, but boring and I don't like spit, much prefer blood!!

Now, I never went on alien encounter but I heard it was great! I have been on stich.. I was not very impressed! It was a cute concept but I think they could have done something more with it!

I miss XS Tech.
I agree. Stitch is extremely weak. I feel like the Magic Kingdom is continuing to try to cater to pre-teens rather than to the whole family.
Actually I think it's the exact opposite of that statement. While I enjoyed AE much much better than SGE, AE was definitely NOT a family attraction. If anything it was catering to the pre-teen to adult category but not the age group that makes up the bulk of the intended demographics. With that being said, I thought it was rather nice that they had a ride which did cater to the above 8 age group. But I would say they were not catering to the pre-teens by the move but rather the pre-pre-teens and their parents by the move - it's still probably scary for them though so oops on WDI.

I agree. Alien Encounter was a great ride but only some of the family (older) could experience it, same with Stitch, but at least this one you can take some kids into, and have them still enjoy it.

Yeah Alien Encounter was such an interesting ride, it was defnitely not for the youth and Disney is supposed to be rides for everyone but at the same time, they changed it so much that the older crowd doesnt appreciate it as much now so is the ride really for the whole family?

So I'm curious as to which voice did the fans like better for the robot (can't think of his name) that welcomes you. The original kind of snotty one, or the new goofy dumb guy voice?

And also, which of the two versions has the better souvineers? I ask because my brother still has the stuffed animal of Skippy, which I told him to hang on to for a long time. I don't even remember seeing any kind of souvineer for Stitch's Great Escape. Or was I so disgusted that I missed it?

Hi, is it Tim Curry your thinking of??? He's the one that says "O'h shut up Skippy" , I prefer him better, I just can't stand Stitch's Great Escape.

Yeah specially the fact that they kept the same robot for Stitch. Everytime I see that, I just think of Alien Encounter, the menacing robot S.I.R.

I got to ride Alien Encounter quite a few times. I was young when it opened, and I only liked to go on if I could sit next to my dad or an uncle or my grandfather! My sister (she's 17 now, I'm just about 21) was afraid of it till the day it closed and probably still would refuse to go on it. It wasn't too scary after the first time...but that first time was soooo creapy for me. And in AE, people were always screaming...every time.

Well they did pipe in some of the screaming too I believe.

Like I thought the "mother in law" bit was some guest near me lol

Hahaha.... "It looks like my Mother-in-Law"
That was an awesome part, I forgot about that.

Yea...they did pipe in the screaming, but there were real screams in there, too. I know for a fact because it was me!

What's probably the most bothersome is that even if they did feel the need to put Stitch in, they could have thought of a better storyline. I can't think of one off the top of my head, but I'm sure they could have made it more appealing for all ages. They really could do anything with that room. It could have been a totally original plot. They just decided to make more-or-less a 'G' version of AE.[/i]

I've never been on the Stitch ride, but I remember when I went on the Alien Encounter ride. My dad had told me it was pretty scary, and he never gets scared, so I was kind of nervous about it. At the time, I was about 11 and went on it. I can't remember the ride at all since my younger sister was freaking out the whole time.

I never saw Alien Encounter, but I thought Stitch was kinda lame.
